About
Rafting Route 62 is the only river rafting company operating in the Robertson on the Breede River and have been in operation since 2004. The trip is about 10 km and you paddle on the most scenic section of the Breede River. The river is gentle enough for first timers, with enough small rapids to make it exciting. This is an unforgettable experience for the whole family. They operate 7 days a week

For me the rating of 3 is 'good' not 'average'. The whole experience is very organised and well run. We had a good morning out, were well taken care of and enjoyed ourselves but there were just a few places where I think this outing was missing an opportunity or two to make it really memorable.
Firstly, I would have liked to have been told that we were the only 2 booked because I would probably have chosen to join a bigger group - more interesting for the teen. The scenery along the route is lovely but the stopping points are not great. The 1st stop is near a public picnic area and was covered in litter and fishing residue. I know it's not the fault of the rafting company, but it's not a good choice. The lunch stop was near one of the farmer's water pumps and was very noisy. I also suggest the company look at doing something to make the picnic experience a little more comfortable - a picnic blanket perhaps? Lastly, the guide could contribute a little more to the experience by suggesting photo stops, good places to swim and perhaps giving a few bits of local info.
Overall a pleasant day out. Do bear in mind that this is not really a rafting trip - the rapids are simply fast moving water for a bit of fun.

What a gem of a find. If you're new to rafting this is perfect training wheels. We were met on time by our guide Lee and Amanda who did a safety briefing before we set off. As a family we loved it as it gave us time to look at the scenery, have a good laugh and also challenge ourselves with the small Rapids. Lunch and Snacks provided. Lee is a very knowledgeable and patient guide. This is a definite must do!

As residents of SA we are aware of the current drought in the Western Cape so we knew to check with the establishment about the river's water levels before we booked. We were told that the water level was still good enough for a good experience. Unfortunately in reality the river water level is too low for a exciting kayaking experience and we nearly got stuck on the rocks in a couple of places. As lovers of water and any form of kayaking this was by far the most dissapointing kayaking experience we have had to date. The best part of our trip was Lee our friendly guide.

Yes, the drought was so tough but I am glad you enjoyed your guide. This season, the river is flowing like a dream. Kind regards, Amanda

We were two seniors who really enjoyed this trip. Great guide who had to help us towards the end as wind and water was against us. Lunch time stop was good and had a very enjoyable lunch pack. On return had a lovely swim in pool which was gratefully received. Will certainly recommend to friends.

We booked in at back packers to do river rafting on short notice and we were pleasantly surprised when we got there.Kevin and Linda made us feel so at home and gave us our own self catering unit which we got far more than we bargained for. The unit was neat and clean with everything we needed on our road trip on the garden route.
The rafting was such a great experience on the breede river and such fun for my wife and 12 year old son. Not to mention the fun I had.
Kevin and Linda was so accommodating to us from the accommodation to the special catering which they arranged for us on this rafting route and could not Thank them enough for their consideration .they arranged special halaal foods for us and we thought this was just so special and thoughtful from them and extra fruit drinks on the trip.
They also organised a special braai stand Stand at our unit.
They also gave us a lot of information about the area and their friendliness just made this trip so memorable.
I can only say the name Robertson Back Packers is synonymous with the saying, small town with people with great hearts.

Very nice paddle with a couple of Rapids. Done with two kids on 10 and 13 with no problems - nice scenery and swimming opportunities all around.

Easy rafting down the Breede River, lead by an extremely interesting and informative guide. The view is beautiful and there are two stops for refreshments and a picnic lunch, all included in the package. This is such a worthwhile experience - would really recommend it to anyone keen on the outdoors and wanting to give rafting a try.

Marco knows his stuff. He has tour guided all over the world and his experience shows. Very professional. Very knowledgable. We learnt a dearth of information about South Africa's history and Robertson itself. He is passionate about the environment and it shows. We came away from the rafting trip a lot better informed and very relaxed after a wonderful, informative, fun day on the river.
