About
Wander around the streets of Prince Albert on the evening Ghost Walk and hear stories of characters from the past and the ghosts who don't want to leave! Or join a Historical Ramble and discover the fascinating tales of days gone by as you admire a wide range of architecture. Prince Albert has so many stories! The Walks are informative and entertaining - fun for families but also suited to those with a deeper interest in the 250+ year history and the culture of our small rural South African community.

This experience is a must for anyone visiting Prince Albert. Ailsa is such a fantastic guide and storyteller, as she talks about the history of the town and the ghosts that linger, you find yourself hooked on her every word. Her walks are truly a fantastic experience and her warmth and friendliness makes you feel right at home. I would be honored to do another walk with her when I find myself in Prince Albert again.

Ailsi is a true storyteller and brings the many ghosts of Prince Albert to life. Her tales are interspersed with interesting tidbits of the town's history as you wander through the streets. We had someone who grew up in the area on our tour, and he could verify the stories and characters. Highly recommended for both interest and entertainment.
We started our at 6pm with the sun still baking down. I was grateful for my waterbottle that grabbed as I left our accommodation. Comfortable shoes are a necessity as some of the roads are uneven and there is lots of standing as the stores are related. The tour is one and a half to two hours long. Follow it up with a late dinner reservation or a G&T at the Gin Bar. The smaller children and teens in our group were a little bored although Ailsa skillfully drew them into her stories.

I booked a ghost tour with Ailsa and had a thoroughly good evening! I was the only person booked (due to Covid-19 lockdown and tourism standstill in SA) and she was still most happy to accompany me. We had a wonderful walk through this incredible town and Ailsa passionately shared some great stories, sights and cultural information. The crisp evening and sunset glow made it even more special.
It's recommended to do the tour with her early on during your stay to see the town with a knowledgeable perspective and appreciation. lt will definitely enrich your visit to Prince Albert! Ailsa was also able to assist with additional questions and information that I required.

90 Minute walk, with informative and sometimes scary stories. I can really recommend this activity at the start of your stay in lovely Prince Albert. You really feel at home after this tour. All tough you might wake up at night hearing strange noises. The story teller is just very enthusiastic and genuine.
The walk starts at the museum. I suggest to go there before te walk. Perfect combination.

Thank you JaaaJaaa - so glad you felt "at home" - that's just what we want! Glad you enjoyed visiting the museum too, you can see why they won the "Best in the Western Cape" award this year. I hope we'll see you in Prince Albert again.

There is something for everyone in a walking tour of Prince Albert at sunset. Little unpublished details of local characters and buildings are woven into entertaining stories that will inspire you to find out more. It is definately worth staying overnight in Prince Albert to experience this activity.

She has such a skill for sharing knowledge and keeping you interested along the way. We loved it all and can’t wait to go back to Prince Albert for another one of her walks. She was really kind, flexible and fun! Thanks Ailsa for a great ghost tour cause ‘strange things happen in the Karoo’. We’ll be back :)

Ailsa is extremely well informed about the history and people of Prince Albert and weaves wonderful stories about the ghosts still inhabiting some of the old buildings - I got goosebumps and kept looking over my shoulder !! A great experience and lots of insight into the history of Prince Albert. Loved her long black cape ... she truly looked the part.

Thank you Alan and Cheryl - it was a pleasure to introduce you to the ghosts and characters! The cape is a real necessity on a chilly evening and the fact I can float in it does add to the fun! Hope to see you in Prince Albert again!

Hi, we are a group of 2 adults and 6 children (ages 9-17) doing a field trip to the Garden Route. We plan to stop over at Prince Albert on our way home on Sat 1 July. How much would it cost us to have a guided tour of Prince Albert? We would be there with our own transport and arrive at around lunch time.
Written 31 May 2017
Hello there! I could take you on a guided walk at 3.00pm on Saturday 1 July - history, architecture and stories about local characters or on a Ghost Walk at 6.00pm - stories about people who lived here and the ghosts who don't want to leave - light-hearted fun in the dark. Price for either: R60 per adult, R30 per schoolchild. Walks take 1 hr 30 minutes. best wishes, Ailsa
