A charming little church!

Although the Anglican Church in Prince Albert has many of the typical characteristics of the churches of Sophy Gray (the first bishop of Cape Town's wife), it is not one of the 40 listed churches attributed to Ms Gray. I have read that the architect is purportedly George Wallis from Oudtshoorn, but when I visited the church last week, I was immediately struck by the similarities to Sophy's churches - the dimensions, the elongated nave, the steeply sloping roof, the tiered buttresses etc.
That the Gray's had some input here is without a doubt, as the good Bishop was instrumental in securing a double erf, on which initially, was built a mission school hall.
Sadly the little church is in need of some TLC - a coat of paint, some serious attention to the woodwork which is quietly rotting away... and wow, the wilderness that once was a garden. If there is not timeous intervention, who knows what will happen to this heritage site!
