This is a first class, well organised event that I would highly recommend. The riding is hard enough to be challenging, but manageable enough to be thoroughly enjoyable. The routes run through glorious farm lands that one would seldom access - the scenery is breathtaking. Besides the riding, the food, wine and accommodation are all outstanding. John and Frances and their team are excellent hosts. This was our second tour so far and we will definitely be back for more!

Outstanding few days in and around Graaff-Reinet - highly recommended! The formula works perfectly, with challenging, yet non-technical, riding and superb food and accommodation. John, Frances and the rest of the Gravel Grinder Team are fantastic hosts. We'll definitely be back for one of their other events.

John and Francis run a slick, organised, well thought out tour. They have thought of every detail. We never paid for a drink or a meal for the entire 3 days. It was really nice staying in the same place the whole ride. I would recommend staying on the final day (we drank too much wine at lunch to drive!) There was some tough cycling. You have to be fit - even on an ebike. The water stops, every 20kms, are very well stocked. We did take (too many) snacks. You also need your own gels/hydration juice. Two water bottles on your bike is best. We plan on doing a Gravel Grinder tour every year. It is one way to force us to keep fit.

The success of this adventure is in the detail of the planning. Prince Albert is a gem and the gravel rides are a pleasure.

What an amazing experience and incredibly well organised.
John & Co have paid close attention to all the details:
- from delightful accommodation to scrumptious while-hearty breakfasts before each day's ride;
- from the variety of rides through gorges, up passes, past orchards and 'never-flat' Karoo expanse to the variety of refreshing snacks and filtered water at each day's rest break
- from the interesting tours and experiences after the rides to the outstanding cuisine for lunch and dinner at a variety of delightful venues in Prince Albert
Definitely exeeded my expectations!
Tips for riders: The rides are tough and best to be fit or hire an e-Bike :) :). The tempretures vary a lot from morning to midday, so bring kit which can be worn in layers to stay warm in the mornings and strip off layers as it gets hotter.

We had the time of our life in the Camdeboo. I am a novice cyclist and loved every second of it. I am grateful that I was fit and managed to enjoy the ride. I just loved the beautiful nature. A three day ride felt like a two week holiday.
The accommodation in The Drosdy Hotel was exquisite. Graaf-Reinette is a beautiful town and the valley of Desolation a must. We had lovely food and made wonderful new friends. I am ready for the next one and would highly recommend it.

Everything as advertised but only better. Awesome food, drinks, riding, people and new friends. Accessible to all fit and not so fit. A perfect town to host such an event

This was an amazing experience. John and Frances and their team, plan everything so thoroughly well! From the bike support along the route, the places we stay, the meals, and everything has been thought of. We loved being able to eat at different restaurants and appreciate how much they include the local businesses in the trip. The fig farm was beautiful and such an enjoyable stop! Prince Albert is a charming and relaxing town to visit and wander through.
The riding is definitely for experienced riders. There is some serious riding involved, but no better way to experience a piece of the Karoo! If you are a beginner, get an e-bike or do the non-riding options, which seemed just as fun!
