Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley - picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Tour Experience: Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely introduction to the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram and open-air tram-bus stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus follows a loop of stops allowing guests to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, such as wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards. When ready guests simply hop on to continue the tour. The tour takes guests into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, with a guided commentary and unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards. Great way to spend (or lose!) a day in Franschhoek. Knowledgeable and friendly guides, prompt and efficient drop off and collection (this can be a challenge later in the day when the wine is flowing!) and a fun way to see several wine farms. The...More

The tram is actually a bus dressed up as a tram, and takes you on a loop to visit the vineyards you want to taste wine at. There are several routes to choose from, and each route runs on the hour, giving you plenty of...More

The tram is a very convenient way to visit the wineries, which are not near each other. I recommend limiting the visits to three, to get to enjoy each one with enough time.

We booked the wine tram tour in advance of our trip to Franschhoek when in reality we'd have enjoyed ourselves just as much travelling by tuk tuk. There's a lot of dead time in between touring the vineyards and after a while they become much...More
