Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on...

Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley - picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Tour Experience: Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely introduction to the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram and open-air tram-bus stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus follows a loop of stops allowing guests to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, such as wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards. When ready guests simply hop on to continue the tour. The tour takes guests into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, with a guided commentary and unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards.

We went on the green line, Make sure to get your tickets early because the line/Q can be very long and can get very hot by stand in the sun. Staff very helpful, they explain everything and ask if you did any lunch reservations (To avoid any inconvenience make your lunch booking a few days ahead) . Was a excellent... More

The Wine Tram is such fun and so well organised with old fashioned buses as well. On a hot summers day it is worth using to get to as many vineyards as possible. Great venues for lunch are also offered.

They have several routes available covering about 8 wineries on each route, although it is probably only possible to do 5 or 6 wineries in a day, so you should plan out your route at the start. The bus or tram drops you at a winery at a specific time and picks you up exactly 1 hour later to to... More

This is an excellent way to see lots of wineries without having to drive-so you can do more tasting!! Very reasonably priced-we did 4 stops each day- any more and it would be rushed and not as enjoyable-lots of choices of routes-we did the red and the purple lines-all look good!

Choose the coloured routes which cover the wine farms you wish to visit. Transport by Bus and Tram. Great way to spend a day, lunches can be booked with the wine tastings. Multiple wines offered at each vinyard-don't drive after doing this!

You havent visited Franschhoek unless you've done the tram - it takes you to beautiful wne farms and lunch at Rickey Bridge is highly recommended. Make sure you have a dedicated driver to get home

Absolutely brilliant fun. Even learned a thing or two. If just a couple of you are planning on taking a trip into the winelands, don't bother to book a bespoke wine tour unless you're after specialist knowledge. We enjoyed plenty of fantastic wine, got to travel round with other like minded people and had a relaxing and informative day. Do... More

We went on Valentines Day and had a brilliant time. It's best to book a couple of days before you go to be able to go at the time and route you prefer. We did the red route and visited 6 places, which is the maximum you can do. We did tastings at each one but did them between us... More

This is a very good way to do the tasting with minimum risk. I hope they can extend the track to give greater tram time. Well worth the cost.

Dear stevewd2015 Thank you for taking the time to review your trip on the Franschhoek Wine Tram. We'd love to offer tram or rail lovers an opportunity to get a longer tram ride in but our options are limited as the railway line in the Franschhoek Valley links relatively few farms, and also traverses a rather busy regional road in...
