Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley - picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Tour Experience: Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely introduction to the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram and open-air tram-bus stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus follows a loop of stops allowing guests to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, such as wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards. When ready guests simply hop on to continue the tour. The tour takes guests into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, with a guided commentary and unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards. For a modest cost, you can visit some wine farms and do the tastings and take lunch, without personal transport.

Honestly this is the way to do Franschhoek - it doesn't go everywhere and you can only see 6 vineyards in a day max (even if you take the earliest departure), but it's great. Really convenient, lovely scenery and you can meet some great people....More

It is the best way to explore various wineries and get around. This way you don't have to worry about drinking and driving. They have a trolley bus and a tram that transport the tourists. You have a choice of different routes. We selected the...More

Took the purple line and had a great day. The tram itself is a bit of a gimmick and most of the time you are on a tram-shaped open air bus. Good way to see more than one vineyard in a day. Thoroughly enjoyed and...More

Took overseas visitors on the Red Line on a cold and cloudy day, but we had another whale of a time. Met great people along the way and each and every wine estate enjoyable with it's own personality, character -- just like the wines!

We took the 940am purple line route and spent the day on and off the tram at 5 different wineries. Seriously well organised and worked a complete treat. The purple route is the same as the orange route, just done the other way around. The...More

I was not sure whether of the value I would get from using a wine tram instead of self drive and the true is that there isn’t much expect that you are driven around while enjoy the scenic view of Franschhoek. The tickets are sold...More

We took the green line so you get to take the tram first thing, visited 6 different vineyards throughout the day and sampled 20+ great wines. Really feel like French winemakers could learn a thing or two from the wine tram. The concept is so...More
