Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on...

Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley - picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Tour Experience: Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely introduction to the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram and open-air tram-bus stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus follows a loop of stops allowing guests to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, such as wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards. When ready guests simply hop on to continue the tour. The tour takes guests into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, with a guided commentary and unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards.

A well organised trip starting in the town offering a variety of routes and selected wine tasting, the earlier you go the more you can fit in, we got there mid morning and managed to fit in 5 tastings which for my liver and sanity was enough. You need to plan the trip to utilise both the service bus and... More

The wine bus/tram was a great initiative by a very smart person to make it easier for people like me to be able to go to a variety of wine farms, taste the wine and not have to worry about driving home afterwards. The staff were all friendly and accomodating, especially because we had a small child with us. We... More

Cute, not bad for a first time visitor to a/any wine region. Would much rather have hired a driver and picked the wineries to visit. Not recommended for a seasoned wine interested person. Maybe this was obvious (we were there as part of an organized tour group)

We visited Franschhoek for the weekend and did the wine tram on the Saturday. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The schedule is well run and the trams/busses always on time. If there is a problem, they call a backup bus. Staff was very friendly, Edwina was a star!

We went early in the morning, so probably not the best time to start on the vino. lunchtime better I think. But well organised and most of the wines were really good.

Every time we have visitors to Franschhoek we seem to go on the wine tram. It is an awesome experience. Highly professional and very easy to use. Its a great way to see the countryside, the magnificent views and farms. You can taste the wines and not worry about driving. Make sure you factor in a farm for lunch or... More

I went on the REd line last year with a visiting from from the U.S. and decided to go with a group of my friends for my birthday on 1 May 2017. Chose the Blue line this time to do something different. Highlight for our group was La Bourgogne and highly recommend an extended stay there to enjoy the live... More

All very efficiently run and well organised. We did the green line. I liked Mont Rochelle a lot thanks to quality food platters, good wines, lovely setting and warm service. Holden Manz was also great for red wines and you could opt for premium wines instead of the standard "wine tram tasting" of some of the others like "Rickety Bridge"... More

I think this is a must for visitors to the Franshhoek valley. You might get more attention on a private tour but it probably would not be so much fun for a holidaymaker. The tram system is simple and there is a host/hostess that goes around the route all day keeping you straight on timings etc. One suggestion is to... More

Had a brilliant day on the wine tram, Tips... Rickety Bridge was disappointing (very commercial) Leopards leap did a great buffet lunch which was very reasonable price Eikenhoff wines were the most drinkable we had all day, and the owner was extremely friendly La Bri Biltong - yum Maison really was stunning - great dessert wine too
