Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on...

Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley - picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Tour Experience: Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely introduction to the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram and open-air tram-bus stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus follows a loop of stops allowing guests to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, such as wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards. When ready guests simply hop on to continue the tour. The tour takes guests into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, with a guided commentary and unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards.

Ticket prices: R170 - R220

There now two routes using a combination of bus and tram. It is efficiently organised and all the participant estates are making a great effort. This is a wonderful way to visit them.

Sign of a good wine tasting adventure, the tram / bus service enables you to sample some of the great wines from local vineyards sensibly without worrying about the risk of drink driving plus its very reasonable and an enjoyable morning / afternoon!!

The Franschoek Wine Tram is a hop on - hop off mixture of bus and tram which visits several vineyards in the valley. The tram ticket includes free wine tastings at each stop and some other extras, so it's good value and a rather nice, slow way to travel around. It's important to make sure your timing is right with... More

We took the red line option. It was a Monday so Leapards Leap was closed, but we still had plenty of winery experiences. We started at 10.30 and visited all of the wineries. Plenty of fun with other passengers and some mighty nice wine and chocolate tastings. Most of the tastings were free, but some you did have to pay... More

A nice idea to visit vineyards at one's own pace ..Its a hop on hop off train and a good value for money as the ticket cost includes wine tasting in all 5 vineyards...But please book ur lunch in advance in any vineyards before to take the wine tram!!

Felt a bit let down by the whole experience. Didn't realise that most of the 'tram' trip was actually on a bus but that is my fault for not fully investigating it! By the time we got to the tram trip (which visited Rickety Bridge and Grand Provence) it was 4 as the bus/tram was busy and they kept us... More

We only booked a day in advance and were lucky to get on a 12 noon tram: the later tours don't make it to all the vineyards. They are adding a second route in January 2014, so you will be able to visit a different selection of wineries. On the current tour, you get to visit 5 wine estates with... More

We hadn't booked and when we turned up just after 9am, there were not many places left on tours later in the day, so book ahead! However we did get 2 places on the 10.40am tour but the two ladies at the desk at the town office were not very efficient and rather surly. The rest of the trip was... More

Drink, socialize, meet people and see locals operating within the confines of their lives on the working farms. Started in the rain but ended in the sunshine- a great day
