Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on...

Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley - picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Tour Experience: Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely introduction to the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram and open-air tram-bus stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus follows a loop of stops allowing guests to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, such as wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards. When ready guests simply hop on to continue the tour. The tour takes guests into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, with a guided commentary and unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards.

Four of us took the 10am tram which allowed us plenty of time to visit all the vineyards we wished to see, and to have a delicious lunch at Paulina's at 1:30pm (the time we booked). We unfortunately did not go to Grand Provence since we wanted to fit in shopping that afternoon and that was the only time we... More

Well organised, service-oriented, polite and concerned operation. A boon to and a must-do Franschhoek experience. Had a great day.

We did this as a way to experience Franschhoek and had a great time. Getting on the tram early on is important if you want to do all the stops since the tasting alone will go till the next tram comes and if you stop to eat at any of the places you may be there for 2-3 stops. Don't... More

We used the wine tram to explore some of the vineyards in Franshhoek and it was good fun. I'd recommend an early bus (we got a bus about 10.30am) to ensure you have enough time to visit all the vineyards, and time for lunch, without feeling rushed. It does state on your ticket which tasting are included with the ticket,... More

We have a villa in Franschhoek and when we heard about this tram idea, we got excited. Problem is it's just a tourist trap. First you get on board in the worst place in Franschhoek (next to pick and pay, in the middle of nowhere...). then there are only 2 stops : and the wineries you will see are OK... More

Thank you for the feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you were disappointed about the limited number of stops on the tour. At the time of your visit we had just launched the tour and had a limited offering. Subsequent to your visit we increased the number of wine estate stops to 5 and in November of this... More

The best way to see Franschhoek in an open side tram or an open side bus. It is a "hop-on" and "hop-off" tour - a unique and leisure way to explore the picturesque vineyards, warm hospitality, world class cuisine, fine wine and the 300 year of history. Passengers can book either online or at the ticket shop in town. The... More

Went on the tour and had a great time visiting a few of the wine estates, pity the trip wasn't a bit longer and could take in a few more stops. It wasn't always clear what was being said about whether the wine tastings were complimentary or not but we still enjoyed the experience.

It was such great fun getting the Wine Tram to Rickety Bridge on a cold and wet day. The cold and wet weather however, didn't bother us in the least, as the one side of the tram had a transparent covering and they also supplied us with blankets to keep warm. A "MUST DO" when in Franschhoek!

This is a great idea and a must do whilst visiting Franschhoek! It's well worth starting early and taking your time to see each stop. We particularly recommend stop for lunch at the Rickety Bridge. The staff on both the tram and the bus are very friendly and extremely helpful! It really made for a great day out.

Going By the wine tram is a decent way to experience the vineyards. The day we went on it however we intended on getting the 1.20pm pick up in franschhoek town but the bus turned up about an hour late. This was a real let down. Eventually when the bus came we chose to skip the museum and go straight... More
