Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on...

Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley - picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Tour Experience: Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely introduction to the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram and open-air tram-bus stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus follows a loop of stops allowing guests to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, such as wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards. When ready guests simply hop on to continue the tour. The tour takes guests into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, with a guided commentary and unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards.

Ticket prices: R170 - R220

This is a great idea but you need to have a plan. There is wine tasting and there is trying the wine in each of the winery's. The latter is always better so plan ahead and get somewhere to stay in Franschoek so you can enjoy without the worry of driving. Enjoy it's a wonderful day out

Signed up for the curated tour to get the full tour and meet the winemakers and get the backstage pass to the wineries. Did Rickety bridge, grand Provence and la bri. Brilliant way to spend a day and learn something about this important industry. Now know the meaning of terrior and why the wine needs to be stressed. Full marks... More

Book in advance if you have a preference which tour to choose as it's a popular way to travel and gets full quickly. The booking kiosk was centrally located and run by a very efficient team. When we booked in the late afternoon the lady supervisor was fantastic spinning multiple plates all at once, answering the radio as well as... More

We were told to do this tram for the experience and we were not disappointed While there are other ways to see the wineries as an option to get know the area and try a number of vineyards it is great Around an hour for each stop, although you can stay longe, which generally turns out to be about the... We decided to choose the green line and it turned out to be an amazing day! The wineries are so fabulous, great service and amazing views not to mention the wine which gets even better as the day goes on! We spent an hour at each one so managed to see about 6 in total. Rickety Bridge and Grand Provence... More

We were lucky and got our tickets the day before for 10am start on the blue line. The staff were so informative, the mode of different transport was exciting, making new acquaintances as the day progressed, pairing wine with cheese, olives, chutney and chocolate was all fabulous fun. There were children as well as seniors all having a "ball". You... More

You must book in advance. The staff in the booth, Cindy, Siobhán and colleagues, could not be more helful. You get an hour in each vineyard which is plenty but don't linger because they'll go without you if you're not there at collection time. The scenery is breathtaking and as the day progresses the atmosphere on the tram gets increasingly... More

This is really the most perfect way to get around Franschoek and see all the wineries, without driving. We used it to see a number of locations. It's perfect, simply perfect. It runs to a tight schedule, so don't be late.

Although it is certainly a very touristy activity we found it a perfect way to get a sense of the are and the wineries around Franschhoek. We only had two nights here and if we hadn't done the tram, we wouldn't have known where to start! We booked in advance the red line (early booking recommended) and we were very... More

Tour was well organised from purchasing of tickets, punctuality of bus/tram and provision of service to look after purchases until the end of the tour. We chose the blue route and enjoyed most of the stops especially La Mont Rochelle( truly beautiful relaxed setting with excellent service) La Bourgogne ( small less formal setting, excellent inexpensive lunch menu which was...
