Discover the Vineyards of Franschhoek. The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley - picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Tour Experience: Passengers aboard the hop-on hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely introduction to the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-side tram and open-air tram-bus stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus follows a loop of stops allowing guests to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, such as wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards. When ready guests simply hop on to continue the tour. The tour takes guests into the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, with a guided commentary and unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards. Everything was really easy, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. A definite must! For locals and tourists! Ps all the wine you buy along the way gets safely stored and you collect it at the end of the tour. Bonus!

If you want to visit the vineyards & do tastings, then the Wine Tram is the only way to travel - especially with the zero tolerance laws. The staff are efficient & friendly, the routes are well explained - and on our tour (The Red...More

We booked the yellow line mainly because we wanted to go to Leopard's Leap for lunch and a lot of the wineries on this line are child friendly (we were travelling our two year old son). Really well organised, great selection of winery visits and...More

We had such a brilliant time doing this! We did the purple line which gave us a range of great vineyards, excellent wine and fantastic views. Starting at about 10.30 was fine for us. Make sure you have a lunch somewhere during the day!

This is a perfect way to sample some of the best local wine farms and the beautiful SA countryside. There are plenty of tasting options and offers along the way.

We did the yellow route. There are many routes to choose from, we chose yellow as we were told it had a good range of wineries with nice white wines which is our preference. Booked the day before at the ticket office in town, very...More

A bit of the usual african chaos, engine on tram only works in one direction sometimes, beyond that good experience. Those puke-resistant seats are kinda uncomfy.

This is such a good idea, let somebody else take care of transport while you enjoy the wineries and their products. We took advantage of pick up and return to our hotel which was in Cape Town. Nearly all the routes use the Tram, supplemented...More

It was pouring it down on the day so we decided to do some wine tasting. The "tram" is a bit misleading as you only spend a small proportion of the trip on an actual tram, the rest is spent on small busses that look...More

well, the Wine Tram is a cute little thing, but to be honest, you will be taken the track up and down about 3x. The track is very short. So you keep seeing the same things. Had I know, I would have taken a us...More
