The museum is a real gem in a beautiful setting. There is a wide range of vehicles from the early 1900s, all in mint condition and well displayed. We were lucky enough to be the only people in the museum at the time which felt very special. The staff were all extremely pleasant. Not to be missed.

A fantastic collection of cars dating back to the early 1900s. It's great for families to spend a couple of hours taking in the great history of the automobile. One of the major attractions to catch is the rare Enzo Ferrari.

The amaaaaazzzing handiworks that went into making these cars, are just astonishing. And the way its kept in their original conditions are just mind blowing. We were privilidged to see the 2nd of only 3 Astin Martins that were built in its range. From the drive from the gate, we felt one with nature. We enjoyed it all 🌸🌿

The museum is situated in the picturesque valley of Franschhoek and part of the famous Rupert family's heritage cum legacy. This is the best vehicle exhibition in South Africa not favouring a particular make. At the site is also a restaurant worth visiting.

We visited on a rainy day and it was so nice to walk around and see such history. The cars are all unique and well maintained and there are great descriptions of each vehicle. Some are so rare! I love that the history is preserved. The museum is on a beautiful estate and everyone is very welcoming.

I have visited many car museums in Europe, but I must say that Franschhoek Motor Museum is by far the most impressive. The collection covers everything from the very early cars ever produced to the very rare luxury cars. Absolutely worth visiting even if you are not a huge car fan. Very impressive collection.

Classic sport cars and classic cars on display, hundreds of them. Car heaven, surely one of the biggest collections in the world, about all Ferrari’s, Porches, Alfas, Mercedes Benzes, and other makes of cars throughout the history of cars are there. Apparently not always the same cars as they do maintenance on all cars and therefor withdraw them at some stage for a period of time.

The Franschhoek Motor Museum sets a high standard. An endless array of beautifully presented cars are housed in four purpose built spotlessly clean buildings surrounded by attractive gardens and a stunning view. Each vehicle has a small description noting the model, year built and special characteristics.
I would have liked to have purchased ordinary sized postcards of particular vehicles displayed but they were not sold. I’d expect that they’d be good sellers.

I was pleasantly surprised by the gentleman guide in the first showroom. I sadly did not get his name - he was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all our questions. He gave us lots of insight into the cars and additional info e.g. how often the cars are physically driven etc,
On leaving we noticed that he was then driving the tram to ferry guests to the wine tasting. We had further questions for him and once again he kindly answered them all. My tip to visitors is to ask the guides for extra info.

A really outstanding experience - a brilliant collection of cars, beautifully maintained. The four huge buildings housing the collection are truly impressive. We underestimated the amount of time we would need to view the whole collection and ended up rather rushing round and not being able to read the story of each vehicle. We will definitely return to do it justice.

Are you allowed to picnic at the museum? or may we only eat at the deli?
Written 11 November 2019
Hi there. We ate something in the parking area next to our car, but I don't think real picnics are allowed. There is a deli but if you want to eat a bit cheaper, visit Franschoek, Pniel or Stellenbosch in the surrounding area.

Yes, the cars are in great condition and well displayed under four different bays all with walking distance from the other.
