It is always an amazing experience to see such big beasts close up, and this encounter did not disappoint. We chose not to ride the elephants, but walking with them, feeding and touching them was very special. These elephants look really well cared for and...More

The experience and interaction with the elephants comes in three parts. A bareback ride with only a blanket and a handler between you and one of the three male elephants they have at the venue. It is pretty scary when you sit 3 meters off...More

Good trip, elephants and handlers are amazing. The elephants are uncomfortable to ride. Pretty short and costly for 7 people and kids are full price however, it's a great memorable experience.

Me and my wife did this ride and we can guarantee it is a real safari in the back of an elephant. We saw giraffs, zebras, deers and leopards. So near, so natural. This ride starts a little bit far from the hotels region. We...More

Frankly, we were reluctant to go an elephant back safari. We were both concerned about potentially visiting a facility where they keep elephants confined, abused, and treated like circus animals. Our preconceived notions were wrong: Addo Elephant Back Safari was a memorable experience. The three...More

This was one of the best things we've ever done! We got a ride from our hotel because we heard that our car wouldn't do well on the roads there and it was a good thing. The ride there was rough so I definitely recommend...More

Hi, I am hoping to visit in November. I am very concerned about cruelty to elephants. I understand you ride upfront, but How many people ride at once ? I was very unhappy to see the riding in Thailand. Can anyone reassure me. Thanks

Hi there, We work on a reward system with our elephants. We build trust and a mutual respect with them - We are completely against cruelty to any animals! It would be one guest with a guide.

Are the 4x4 drive safaris offered at this lodge within the Addo National Park and how long are they? Also, how long do the elephant back safaris last for residents of the lodge (I've read conflicting information in the reviews)? Many thanks.
