The heart of downtown, where several walking tours begin, Market Square is a center of activity with art galleries, bookstores, antique shops, ethnic restaurants and many original 17th-century buildings.

When you are shopping around, make sure to stop in at Off Piste. It’s a great store that will have you giggling. Perfect for first dates to see whether you have a possible match based on shared humor, or to share with friends.

Walked through on our way up to Portland, ME. Nice place to stretch our legs, see some unique shops and spend some time by the water.

Find a parking spot close to downtown and make your way to Market Square. There are restaurants and cafes nearby or in the square. If you're into shopping, there is plenty of that too. Great place to go during the holiday season.

Great shopping, lot's of little boutiques which I love for finding one of a kind items. Plenty of places to stop for a snack or a full meal. It's a couple/family/dog friendly city and I love walking around it.

Great shopping and good food in a "quaint" New England city. Good hotels and shops the only problem is parking but they are working on it

Nice places to eat or just drink coffee. Probably more festive in summertime. Our visit was on a rainy day.

I would start the day with a nice breakfast at "The Friendly Toast" on Congress Street or Popover or Breaking New Grounds. Next stroll the downtown area and check out all the quaint and colorful shops. Walk on down to... More
