How can you go wrong with free (ok they have an honor system for admission)?

We were looking to do something a little adventurous (for us) and driving to the top of a mountain met what we were looking for.
The road was curvy and steep in places but not bad as it was a fairly short drive.
The views were breath taking , especially when looking over the edge.
Love this place and will be back.

Let Your Car Do Hike!
Jul 2021
This is one of the few mountaintops you can access by car in the area. It is definitely worth doing! There is adequate parking since there is not much to do once you're at the top other than enjoy the view for a little while and drive back down to your next adventure.

Was a short drive from the center of North Conway. Lovely view, and easy walk. Perfect when you want something to do and get outside.

Short drive from North Conway. The road up isn't that long and this is worth a quick trip up while staying in North Conway. Nice view of the town from here. We could see our hotel from the top. Probably spent 15 minutes driving up and looking at the view. A lady was getting her ropes ready to rock climb here while we were there.

Climbing to the Top of Cathedral Ledge
Aug 2020
Good trip! We arrived at approximately 3:15 pm and parked near the entrance of the bottom of the trail. The roadway leading up to Cathedral Ledge was closed, so we had to hike up multiple parts of steep winding roadway. This was the hardest part of the hike and was definitely strenuous in my opinion. However, once we reached the top, it was a short easy hike to Cathedral Ledge. The views at the top were amazing and truly breathtaking. I also felt safe, as there was a barrier that was surrounding the entire ledge.

Tip: I recommend spending 1.5 hours here if you truly want to see everything.

Amazing views!

The auto road was closed when we were there so we walked up the one mile road. It was very steep most of the walk. The views were absolutely amazing and worth every step!

Awesome hike

Easily one of my favorite hikes in North Conway. Short, easy, and the views are stunning. There is also an option to drive to the top.

Not much to see in winter but spring and summer is great.

From the top of Cathedral Ledge you can see the town of North Conway's main street. Great aerial views of the surrounding area. Hiking and snow shoeing at Diana's Bath, along the railroad tracks and behind The Ragged Mountain shop.

Worth the view, even in the winter
Feb 2021
We've hiked Cathedral Ledge many times in the spring and fall. We recently hiked it for the first time in the winter with the road covered in snow and it is worth every drop of sweat and toil! The hike in the winter is definitely harder. Dress in layers because going up is hot even if it is 15 degrees out but you will definitely feel the real temp when you are coming down. Figure 40-60 minutes going up in the winter and 20-30 minutes coming down. Nice break from skiing and snowmobiling without spending any $$$. The view as always is spectacular.

Steep at times but worth it!

My husband and I are 54 and moderately fit but I think this trail is on upper end of moderate rating and needed to take several breaks to catch my breath. I’m glad we stuck with it because the reward at the summit are gorgeous views of the valley and mountains. We decided to walk down the paved road instead of hiking down the trails and I’m glad we made that choice.
