We were surprised to see that there was a lot of construction going on at this place. The house was boarded up and another area looked like they just got done ripping it down. Had a nice garden area but not much more to look at. Seems like the only thing left to do there was hike.

Uncrowded place to visit during in Bethlehem, NH, quiet during the week, lovely views. Enjoyed the flower garden, and the little cabin with a video and many historical artifacts and details re the family who owned it previously. Shady with a few picnic tables. Trails to explore.

When we arrived I noticed there weren’t many signs directing you on where to go for the cut your own trees. We were directed to park way out back. We walked down to the main building where there was nobody outside who worked there. We went inside and noticed a line of more than 60 people waiting to pay. I asked a person in line where we go and they pointed us in a direction that was not correct, we again walked the entire perimeter of the main building still confused where to get saws and how their process works. Still nobody around to help or ask directions. What a joke and waste of time ! We went elsewhere.

I loved the entrance to the estate. There was a large maple in full red next to a white house. Stunning. We rode into the grounds back to where the maple trees are tapped. There is a sugar shack that is for presentations of the maple syrup process. The narrator was so knowledgeable, interesting and funny. He told stories about his personal experiences in the making of maple syrup. Next door is a museum of antique tools and machinery. From there we went back to the Christmas tree farm. We were able to hike through the farm amongst the fir trees and trails. The weather was definitely a wonderful Fall day.

Today we had the pleasure of visiting The Rocks Estate. Even though the weather was not the best, it didn’t deter us from having a terrific hike through the woods on one of the trails offered. The presidential range can be viewed on a few of the trails. The colors were beautiful! The estate is full of history and you are able to visit several buildings that have signs explaining it’s historical significance. There is also a Christmas tree farm where you can tag the perfect tree. All in all, it’s a great place to visit.
