Diamond Peak is a community-owned resort with breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe; miles of welcoming, uncrowded runs; easy access from the parking lot to the slopes; a dedicated Child Ski Center for the littlest skiers and snowboarders; and a great Ski & Ride Center for older skiers/riders. We recently went to the resort for a two day ski trip. This was a perfect amount of time for the resort. We skied the entire mountain in that time. This resort is relatively small with really only 3 lifts that service e the mountain. The mountain is not for beginners as it is very steep. the blues a groomed well and the blacks are mostly groomed smooth with very steep runs. no moguls. The restaurant on the lower peak is a great lunch spot with a great view of the lake. The lower restaurant was better equipped with food. they all have Free water available but bring your own bottle as the cups are very small. For the price this resort was a little expensive but we never waited for a lift and always had plenty of room on the runs.

For skiing, it is much cheaper then most places in Colorado, and I believe it's more affordable than the competing ski destinations in the area. There are a lot of really nice views for sure. That's beautiful. The parking is not very good at all. There also aren't all that many runs. I'd say that if you are passionate about skiing this is not the place for you. If you are only skiing a couple days, and ski once a year, this is perfect. Also, if you are bringing a bunch of kids, it's great because there are only two lifts at the base. So, it's not that hard to meet up with people. The food is crap, and really the bar is pretty sub par. If you have been to premium ski destinations like Vail, or Aspen, and expect that quality here, then you need to adjust your expectations. I think that if you are a casual skier and have a party with a lot of kids, this place is great.

Loved skiing at Diamond Peak this past week, great resident rate at $25 a day. As someone who was getting back into skiing after 10+ years, the resort was big and also not too crowded during the week. Everyone that worked there was super nice and the cafeteria had quite a few options. My husband does blue/black runs and grew up at this resort and had a great time as well. It definitely has a hometown feel and I love that.

This place is becoming too crowded and staff are not trained properly. There was one ski lift operator at the top of the school yard area that was not paying attention to the people getting off the lift. She kept going inside the booth to look at something then another employee arrived, and they were just chatting with each other. Completely negligent.

Diamond Peak is a beautiful ski resort with absolutely gorgeous views of Lake Tahoe. The staff of rental equipment are competent, friendly, and helpful. The best part is the highly skilled and friendly ski instructors. My son had ski instructor Doug C. and he is absolutely the best. The lodge was great. The parking was convenient. Snow in January 2023 was plentiful and well groomed. A wonderful ski resort.

Amazing views, the rental staff was very helpful. Only real issue was no snow! I know they have a business to run, but shelling out over $400 for three people to have the ski experience with only limited runs is tough to swallow. With snow the value is there for this resort.

You'll have to come back to ski the other terrain. We got over 4 feet of snow just after your visit and are now 100% open!

We spent three days at Diamond Peak and are already planning a return trip. Our children (5 & 9) spent two full days in classes, which they loved and we got to spend two days skiing the beautiful slopes. The views over Lake Tahoe are stunning and the sloped are well maintained and cater for all groups; we are intermediates.
One of our lasting memories will be how friendly and welcoming the staff are at Diamond Peak. They couldn't do enough to help and really make this a super special resort.

Bought a season pass here. The Crystal Express is frequently broken. They also do not prioritize season pass holders over single day lift tickets. Will never ski here again and recommend others stay away. Poorly managed but about what you'd expect from a greedy city run establishment.

First time visiting for me was late March 2021. Spring skiing was well underway. I had not skied in several years, so it took a few easy runs for me to feel confident, but good times after that. Ski school was still available. Most of the mountain was open. Conditions were good. Of course, being late March, it was warmer each day and the snow softened considerably by closing time. Still had a good time and would go again. Will say that the mountain really isn't that big, relative to most western resorts, but I was very satisfied for a weekend trip. Recommend.

We are a few time a year skiers, blues with a few blacks mixed in. This place is a wonderful resort for the middle to good skier. While it’s not the biggest or most known, the Snowflake Bar at the top of the Lakeview lift is our favorite! Their prices are fair, their staff is super friendly, and their view is best on the lake!! We love Diamond Peak!

My husband doesn't ski or snowboard. Is there anything he can do while I am taking the kids for their snowboarding lessons? We heard there is a Snowflake lodge with a great view, would he be able to access it without skiing or snowboarding? Does he need to purchase a lift ticket?
Written 16 December 2021
Snowflake Lodge cannot be accessed without skiing/snowboarding. He could hang out at our Base Lodge though. There are still views down there and he can watch you ski down Lodgepole or Show-Off trails. There is a bar and food there and free wifi.

We will be staying in Incline Village for a week from 18th Jan for the 1st time. My 24 year-old son is an intermediate to advanced snowboarder - is there a group class that he can join as he will be on his own and it would be nice for him to have company while exploring the more advanced slopes and improving his skills.

Is anyone else having trouble getting through to schedule ski lessons? I’ve been trying for days and will be there in two days. Am afraid we won’t have lessons or will have to go off resort.
Written 30 December 2019
Diamond Peak has ski lessons The best bet is to visit the ski area the day before to enroll in a ski lesson. And also buy tickets the day before late afternoon.
Check the weather conditions first.
for the next day
Buy your tickets the day before they open up at 8 o’clock in the morning and you will be the first to ski with no one on the runs

We'll be at Diamond Peak in two days. I'm wondering how the weather conditions are right now (during this week). Our son is signed up for ski lessons. We'll be staying at the Courtyard in Carson City. How is the commute to and from Diamond Peak? Thank you, in advance, for your response!
Written 25 December 2017
The commute will be fine the roads are dry and there’s no snow expected .
They only have a few runs open but the ones they have open were good. It’s good earlier so be sure to be on the slopes at 9 o’clock
He’s in lessons then they will take him to a certain place and will probably be OK .
There are just a few runs and will be an awful lot of people . If you can get there early you can get a spot to park otherwise you may have to take the shuttle and park somewhere else down below .
If you can be there by 8 o’clock I think you will have a better experience parking maybe to be able to go back to your car if you need to . You may need to be there even earlier if it’s really packed . I never ski there during the holidays .
Most of us locals avoid it during the holidays but if we do we will be ready to go at 9 o’clock to ski and on the ski for an hour before the crowds come

Sometimes, but we are not open for skiing in May.

Do you have a magic carpet for little kids that is open to the public? Do parents need a lift tix to help their kids on the magic carpet?
Written 3 January 2017
No. The magic carpet is only for kids in the Child Ski Center programs. Our Schoolhouse Chair is great to learn on but you both need a ticket.
