My wife and I had some time to kill on a Saturday morning. It is true that there's not any "famous" artists like I read in other reviews. Regardless, there was some nice art to view, the building is beautiful, the travertine interior is beautiful....More

Image a museum that has a superb Hopper and decides NOT to show it! They had not one single famous artist on show when we were there, except for one Warhol. Very small by the way

I love getting to go to the Sheldon Museum of Art every year in June while attending an annual conference in Lincoln. The building is beautiful. This would be the perfect place to host an arts benefit. The Sheldon houses some very important works in...More

The Sheldon Museum of Art is truly a find! The building itself is lovely. The grounds are wonderful - - don't forget to go outside, in back of the building, or you won't have the whole experience.

We visited on a very slow day during Spring Break. Parking nearby is by meter, and you've got to have a credit card or change handy. The people on duty were attentive and well informed, and they were obviously proud of what they had, too....More

March is photography month so most of the exhibits were pictures. Focus on conflict which was intriguing. A very well thought out display. The regular items in the percent collection are rotated on a semester basis so it's a definite return trip. Next time I'll...More

The building was designed by Phillip Johnson in the 60's , classic mid century modern, extensive art collection plus interesting work loaned from other galleries.

The museum has a good selection of outdoor sculptures, inside I felt there was a lot of spare space for such a large building. The ground floor had a couple of photographic exhibits, but I think the more thought provoking photos were upstairs dealing with...More

We annually visit the Sheldon when we visit friends and relatives during the Holidays. The Philip Johnson architecture and sculpture gardens alone are worth the visit. The Permanent Collection is extensive, and only part of the collection is on view at any time - wish...More

It isn't a huge place but because the exhibits change, the time can vary depending on how interested you are in the specific exhibits. I'd say generally 1-2 hours. The campus (where it's located) is beautiful to stroll if... More
