Improved a little

Place is little hidden behind the Castle Park. It is a nice place with a workshop (aski in advance) and a shop with local wooden products. Upper floor is reserved for different exhibitions.

Craft Demonstration
Dec 2017 • Couples
We learned about toothpick construction and were treated to a demonstration of how the sieve bottoms are woven. We saw some lovely pottery and some fine wood bowls, all made at the center. When we asked about how any item was made, we were given an English print out that was very informative.

The last witch buring happened in Ribnica. Scary, but interesting to know!
The insititute offer lots of insight into the history of the region, what they did, their customs and tells a lot about the loval trade. Would definitely recommend.

New exhibition in the upper floor
Dec 2016 • Couples
Center is best souvenir shop in the area, place for workshop (working with wood and wooden products) and museum in the upper floor. Specialist prepared interesting collection of old underwear, mainly from 19. and 20. century. You can look at original pieces or read explanations on the posters.

Nearly unknown - nice for workshops
May 2015
Handicraft center is hidden near the center of the village. It has large parking behind the fence. You can find a shop behind the garage door. I don’t know why the shop is not on a main road where shops are more than boring. Near the shop is vaulted room where they can teach you many different crafts, mainly how to do small pieces for kitchen, for use in apartments, from wooden soupspoon on. From time to time they organize potter’s workshop. A surprise for me was interesting exhibition I the first floor where they have all different kinds of wooden products from toothpick to hats and violins. With better oranisation and promotion they can easily get five points.

If you are interested in craft work from wood this is the great oportunity to see what kinf of wooden product can do in this region.
The position of this museum it is not ao good because it is a litle of the main road but still the folks are kind and if you ask they will show you where it is.

Well worth a stop
Jun 2014 • Friends
The museum and active workshop concentrates on the areas wooden utensil making history. From spoons, forks etc to wicker/reed baskets/products and pottery.

There was a gentleman making wicker/reed baskets etc while we were there. He was very keen to show use the various phases and work involved.

All the staff were very friendly and very proud of their town and heritage.

There is the usual shop where your can buy various items (At a cheaper price than you will get at the main tourist locations.).

It is worth a visit and the admission price is very reasonable - €1.50
