We walked from the dam to the State Park - maybe three miles round trip- along the gorgeous and colorful Clark River. This gentle path has plenty of pit stops for photo opportunities, with a mostly shaded and level path not too taxing on the legs. I found the river a little too big to fish, but beautiful to admire from the path. Great for all ages.

Take a fun, free walk with the family along the water. Explore the dam and go to Minnies for lunch or breakfast after.

I would definitely recommend walking these trails, the views are absolutely gorgeous the entire way, just make sure you are wearing good walking/hiking shoes as they are trails, not paved paths.

For a small town, TF has a great trail system. We brought our snowshoes this trip and hope to explore even more.

Wonderful trail in Thompson Falls to enjoy. The trail was easy to walk, well maintained - good work done by the community! It was signed pretty well and easy to figured out the places that weren't. Good place for a nearby trail to hike and not be concerned with bears :) There is a trailhead but no restrooms at the Mule Pasture Trail System.

It took me a little while to find it but the Powerhouse Loop Trail was a great addition to my run. It was cool in the shade, well-marked, mostly gravel or sand with no roots or stumps and just a really nice run. I saw one other person walking his dog and they were both very friendly. Lovely riverside views. The park with the path to the trail is very nice, too.

For a town the size of Thompson Falls, they have an amazing series of well-maintained trails through several scenic areas along the river. I don't know if the "Mule Pasture" trail at the Forest Service fire office is considered part of the "Community Trail" system but it was enjoyable as well.

Nice place to take an easy hike or two for great views of the river and dams. There are some off-trail opportunities for the more adventurous, but heed the warning signs about the abrupt edge and long drop.
