Overview
More
The Turnpike Gallery is situated on the first floor of the Turnpike Centre and is the home of art, theatre, music, film, dance and craft for the people of Leigh. In 2014 the Gallery changed hands from WLCT to CreativeLEIGH, part of the umbrella charity Trust In Leigh. The space will continue to host a rolling programme of exhibitions focusing on the work of local artists and community groups, especially young people. The Gallery will also host an Arts Awards hub, music, dance and drama activities delivered in partnership with some of the region's best arts organisations (including the Octagon Theatre and the Ludus Dance Company) and a Film Society.

The Turnpike Gallery is a gallery again and the recent exhibition has been great. Now worth visiting regularly again.

A trip to the exhibition In the Family of Carbons gripped a group of secondary school children and fascinated me. It’s a great space to visit and the staff who work there are wonderful and passionate about the work and what they do.

The Gallery has become a top class venue but one that welcomes anyone, thanks to Helen Stalker and her staff. There is a 2018 theme about coal and mining and there is a big link to the Lancashire Mining Museum (Astley Green Colliery). The next...More

Visited the Turnpike on many occasions for meetings, presentations and exhibitions. It's a great place for community get-togethers but does suffer a little from sound problems unless an appropriate PA is used. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. They do their best with the...More

Always good for kids activities, other events like exhibitions are a nice touch of art/culture for the town like Leigh. And there's always a very friendly library downstairs to pop in as an alternative.
