Busy on the weekends, but well worth a stroll along, the shop fronts retain their old world charm, and there are quite a few nice cafes and coffee shops, and even an old lolly shop.

I have long enjoyed visiting Maling Road. It has a great variety of shops, including antiques, and many food options. It is close to public transport and always has something new to surprise me.

I'm not sure that many tourists will visit the area but our family live nearby so it's become a favourite for a couple of shops and somewhere for a decent breakfast or brunch. If you get the chance make a detour and take a look...More

Beautiful historic precinct in Canterbury with charming retail neighbourhood and plenty of great places to eat. Really good for families. Very little open in the evening. It’d be wonderful if there was a bit of night life. Train station is very convenient.

Thank you, Urban Drifter. That's a good suggestion. I was wondering if there are people who take guided tours of the area and can relate its history to a group of 15 or so.
