Vaucluse House is one of Sydney’s few 19th-century mansions still surrounded by its original gardens and wooded grounds. A visit to Vaucluse House makes for a perfect outing, be it strolling or picnicking in the grounds (accessible free of charge), dining in the tearooms or experiencing the spectacular refurbishment inside the house. Staff led or self guided tours are also available. Regular opening days are Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm. We are open daily during NSW school holidays.

What a delightful place. We enjoyed walking around this grand old home. The audio really added to the experience and is included in the ticket price.

Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and well informed of the house's rich history. The experience was surreal - it was easy to imagine life back in the early 19th century. Well worth the visit and we will be back.

I went on the free guided tour. Leila gave a very informative tour and plenty of insight into the way of life of the Wentworth family. Thoroughly enjoyable. Grounds, gardens are gorgeous.

Best to catch bus number 325 from the city. The nearest ferry stop is Watsons Bay, but that is a 30 minute walk away.

Hi Margaret, the tours are run by volunteers so unsure of the time. Best to go to their website and contact them directly. You have to pay an entry fee.
