This was an interesting venue, lots of history there. It might not have been so good if it had been either too cold or too hot, as it was mostly outdoors. But it was interesting, and we had a nice time.

We visited Dockery Farms on a recent visit to Cleveland. It was interesting to view the remaining buildings and equipment. The video was very informative and an honest portrayal of life for the workers on the Farm. It's a self-guided site with no docent available; however, stopping for a visit was a meaningful experience for us.

We have been planning to go by here for a few years and glad we made the stop! It’s important for the history of the Delta and Blues. 1 hour is plenty of time to walk the grounds!

If you contact the owner ahead of time, they will give you a guided tour for a small fee. I didn't take the time to do that, so we toured the grounds reading the signs and listening to the recorded videos. This was interesting to learn about life after the Civil War through early 1900's.This was a complete town with a company store to a church. At one time several thousand lived and worked here. The main crop was cotton and the picture is of the cotton gin. I recommend have a guide who can answer questions you may have.

Meet the Dockery's and hear the stories of Robert Johnson and others and the rich history of the music performed at Dockery Farms. If you like Delta Blues you must visit here and learn the rich history.

We stopped here on our way to New Orleans. The place was well maintained and easy to find just a few miles east of Cleveland on the
highway. We did a self tour and went inside the cotton gin. The store/restaurant is closed and I don't know the plans for it. Be sure and leave a donation in the box.

Dockery Farms is very well maintained. We contacted Bill Lester before arriving and he met us there and spent an hour with us. His encyclopedic knowledge was wonderful and his insight into how the blues evolved was great. Unforgettable. The entire place is great with movies that explain the history.

if you are a photographer like me, then this location offers a wealth of photographic opportunities. If you are Blues-mad, then ditto. If you are just passing through, well don't bother with this place. Yes it is historically important, but apart from an explanation of the venue, there's no one around and nothing to do.

The birth of the Blues? Who knows, what this place had as we walked around the old cotton gin structures was an atmosphere that I find difficult to explain. Like everyone was at lunch and would be back soon. Spend and hour exploring and soaking up the feel of the place. There’s a visitor book to sign at the gin and a video display at the gas station.

For a free walk through blues history this is the place to be. Loved it. An unexpected highlight of our Mississippi pilgrimage.
