Beautifully paved bike trail that was built on an old railroad bed. This trail will provide a beautiful ride in the country without getting too far away from the city or working too hard.

Perhaps there are parts of this path that are pretty, but the part that we found (after finding several different sets of conflicting directions on this site and others) was a path that went through an industrial park. Not great. Apparently the path is long...More

Did a lot of training runs here, It's nice and relatively flat and fairly well shaded. It's very straight, which can be good or bad depending on your preferences.

This is nice, well maintained biking trail. It can get a bit busy at times with a mix of casual to serious cyclists. There are also walkers on the trail so ride cautiously.

Ellen and I walk a lot, 2000+ miles a year as retirees. City trails are few and far between. The one in Greenville, SC and Morganton, NC wonderful. Both are river trails. The Douglas trail just as good, some river crossings, and so built into...More

The Douglas Trail connects the city of Rochester with the town of Pine Island and is about 12 miles long. Water and outhouses are available in Douglas and a city park on the north end of the trail in Pine Island has an ice water...More

This is an amazing trail for biking, hiking, and running through typical southeastern Minnesota countryside. In Minnesota we celebrate the Driftless Zone, geology unaffected by glaciers. As a result, this area of Minnesota is ageless, delicate and very special. It gets even better as you approach...More

Nice paved bike trail over and old railroad spur flat Trail is basically straight, over woods and farmland from Rochester in through Douglas eventually stopping at Pine Island. Nice and quiet during the week with just a few bikers traveling the trail.

When visiting Rochester, I almost always go for either a long bike ride or a long walk on this well-maintained trail through the pretty Minnesota countryside. A definite favorite thing to do, and what a great recreational asset for the city.

great trail, we like the flatter trails, and it fits the bill. Goes through woods, and overlooks some residential areas.

Great place to get back to nature within the city. Nice straight paved trails. Many years ago we enjoyed snowmobiling through them in the winter. I'm not sure if you can still do that as we visited in summer now. However, great place to walk,...More
