This museum struck me as a politicaly correct museum. In my opinion a museum should show you what was, not what is the current explanation of why.
Lots of artifacts from the area, and some interesting scenes. Lovely murals/paintings. A couple fun hands on activities, such as maneuvering canoes up an accurate plaque that's a map of the river. Museum is on the smaller side.
We had some time so we took a quick tour of this museum. It was small museum. Nothing spectacular that stood out.
This is a well-kept museum. There are audio sticks available so you can listen to narration as you go through. This museum deals with how the area developed, starting with the Ojibwa people, then showing the change as missionaries, fur traders, French, and English arrived....More
This museum is very interesting, with good displays. It tells the rich history of Sault Ste. Marie. Children an adults will enjoy this and learn a lot about the area.
It was a simple museum but I thought overall it was very informative. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Not sure I would go again though.

The museum has a great group of dedicated volunteers. They have put together a good representation of Sault Ste Marie, MI. I would encourage to put it on your "Must See" list if visiting Sault Ste. Marie.
This museum is not extensive, but it is informative. It will only take between one and two hours to review. There are many interesting displays as well as information on the native americans who originally occupied the region, the European explorers. and more recent settlers.
