Walked by on many occasions never thought to stop in,sure glad we did, simply an outstanding and distinctive display of the works of Dom Robert. I recognized the work, from a magazine article or a art book that I saw some years past.Just the amount of time/work that goes into a tapestry is AMAZING. Great visit, the school museum that is in the same building(same entry ticket) is so,so,and a bit of an anticlimax,so I would suggest to see that area first.

We visited this museum as part of journée du patrimoine 2017 and I had never heard of Dom Robert. I was totally knocked out by the gorgeous designs that represented nature and seasons. If you love 50's stylised design work, William Morris, any fabric in Heal's sept store, you will want to take one of these rugs home with you. As I couldn't I tried not to buy everything in the shop and settled for a beautiful poster and book mark! Defo going back here!

Entrance to this museum is included in the ticket for the abbey military school and so we thought we would look round. Very glad we did. Beautiful tapestries in vibrant colours, reminded me of William Morris. The tapestries are very well displayed in modern surroundings with good lighting. Very interesting and I learned something ne

The military school could be interesting if it had English descriptions. BUT the tapestry museum more than makes up for it. The colors are fantastic. The details are amazing. I took a lot of pictures. Great building and a super staff that went out of their way to find his first tapestry for us

If you don't know the name Dom Robert or know little about tapestry then do make time to visit this museum. Beautifully presented in an interesting building the modern tapestries contain fascinating designs and many vibrant colours.

We were staying a short distance up the road in Dourgne and knew nothing of this place until a kind local mentioned it to us. We were glad he did. Dom Robert's use of inspiration from the natural world, his playfulness of design, and his striking use of colour make for a rewarding visit to this museum of CXXth tapestry. Dom Robert's are not the only pieces in the collection, although they are the majority. Everything is beautifully displayed. We would have felt it to be worth coming quite a long way to see this - as Michelin would put it, 'vaut le voyage'.

I visited on a guided tour as part of the conference I was attending, but found it fascinating, though the guide spoke far too fast for me to follow in French, and included so much detail that I lost track. However, I was able to re-visit after the guided tour, and having had the tour, was able to get much more out of a visit at my own speed, as most of the exhibits had labels in French and English. The gift shop was also rather good, with a wide range of gifts and souvenirs. They do have audio commentary guides in place of the guided tour, and this may well be the best way to get the most of this fascinating and impressive museum.
