WE have visited Africa Silks on numerous occasions and they never cease to amaze with the range of goods available. Over the years this has increase and improved. Even though we visit just to see the ladies spinning in the back area, my wife always finds something new to take home with her.
If you are not rushed take time to listen to the short talk that is given by one of the ladies there. We still enjoy listening, even though we have heard the talk on a number of occasions.

During a break in our Panorama Route tour in Graskop we visited Africa Silks to buy some real Africa souvenirs like handcrafted textiles etc. In the shop, we experienced a warm and heartily welcome with singing from the women working in the shop. We visited the workshop and met the spinning and weaving women there. The shop's head gave us excellent advice and selected some wonderful scarfs for us. Additionally, wo decided for some more scarfs in beautiful colours. For all four completely handcrafted silk scarfs -- from producing, dyeing and spinning to weaving the silk -- we paid an absolutely fair price. Please don't try to bargain, this has no use and would be a shame.

We stayed at the Africa Silk Farm for a night in the tent. The tent gave us a real feeling of being close to nature as we were surrounded by macadamia trees. The tent was equipped very well with braai tools, fridge and microwave with cutlery and some pots and dishes.
We loved the stay with the gorgeous setting, friendly service and smiling owners. We got a free ginger beer and did the silk tour where a smiling lady explained the whole process of silk creation to us.
There was a well maintained 3 kms gravel road to the farm which does not require a 4X4.
A lovely experience just 20 minutes out of Graskop. We would definitely stay here again!

If I had the time I would literally spend a day at Africa Silks to explore on all the high quality silk merchandise on display. The sales women were very helpful and friendly and effortlessly assisted me.
The women at the spinning wheels gave the shop an authentic feel and I was amazed by just how talented they are.
I bought a beautiful silk tie for my husband and for myself a delicate and stunning silk scarf.
Not to be missed when in the Graskop area.

African Silks are always an interesting visit if in Graskop.
You can browse through the shop and see the many items that are made from silk. Until one gets to the back where the real interesting things are to see.
The ladies making duvets, spinning silk from the cocoons and the quiet um of the looms as they weave away. It never ceases to amaze.
Do not miss it if you have 15-20 minutes to spare on a visit to the town.

We had a short, but informative visit here. The silks are beautiful and many of us bought something. The women were friendly and happy to help. I did not feel the prices were too expensive for the quality that is produced.

Apart from the fact that we despise Graskop for its potholes, dirty cops and bad restaurants, this site is a desert oasis of history, knowledge and authentic hand-made products. Really worth a visit, just avoid the rest of the town and head to Sabie for a great meal at the Wild Fig Tree.

We visited Africa Silks when we were staying in Hazyview, at the Kruger Park Lodge. We opted for the guided tour of the silk farm, where we were first shown an explanatory video and then actually shown the complete life cycle of the silk worm, through its various stages and the processing of the silk, including the spinning and weaving. They also have a shop with a display of various silk products and a restaurant.
Highly informative experience!

Fabulous!!! This was a nice surprise. We visited Graskop for some pancakes and stumbled upon the Silk Weavery situated right in the main street.
This was an excellent detour to our trip. They showed us the moths laying eggs and how they process the cocoons up to where they weave the silk. My children totally enjoyed this and the staff was very friendly and helpful taking their time to explain the process and to show us everything. (the "tour" is for FREE) they also informed us that their Silk Farm is just outside Graskop and they also do tours there - we will make a point of visiting this on our next trip to Mpumelanga.
The products available at the weavery is absolutely beautiful and of good quality - this is an excellent place to shop for some special gifts.

We loved this store, even the "guided little tour". Bought lots of nice but expensive pieces. Friendly people too.
