This is a very nice church. The priests are very nice, and the architecture is outstanding. They also have coffee and donuts after each service, along with soft drinks and juice.

The ultimate worship experience for Catholics who miss the reverence and beauty of their childhood parishes. A little bit of Heaven here in Greektown. My go to place for solace, beauty and renewal of Faith.

This church is just iconic and nothing less. If you ever have an opportunity to stop by, do it. You'll be happy that you did!

If you are a Catholic is church has the old Latin Mass, it is a must attend. The inside is very beautiful and historic. It is in the mist of Greek Town and it is a place to go if you need sometime to quiet time.

We attended mass at Old St Mary's Church. I was impressed by the architecture and the acoustics for the choir and homily.

The church was well arranged and the lighting system of the church building is okey. The sermon was catching and making a lot of sense to the current generation.

Gorgeous church that brought a tear to my eye as it reminded me of our now defunct parish of St. Katharine Drexel in the coal regions! The statues were so realistic and done in the European style that so many old Catholic Churches have made their crown jewel. As a practicing Catholic, I found this church to be a reminder of the beautiful spirituality and devotion of past generations!
Only drawback was the crazy homeless lady who accosted me as I was the leaving the church and asked me if I would buy her crack! When I refused she started cursing and swearing at us so thankfully my husband was with me and we left without issue. The reason I mentioned this is perhaps they should have some sort of monitoring of this beautiful space!

Old St. Mary's Church is one of Detroit's most beautiful churches, though Detroit has many spectacular, majestic older churches downtown (like St. Joseph Oratory, Sweetest Heart of Mary, Ste. Anne de Detroit). Completed in 1885, it combines features of Pisan Romanesque and Venetian Renaissance in a remarkably pleasing structure. It has an impressive pipe organ, music program, collection of beautiful statues and relics. It is easily accessible, close to the Greektown Station of the People Mover, adjacent to the Greektown Casino and restaurant district. It sustains a lively parish, with free parking for anyone attending Mass.

Most Masses are in English, but First Friday Masses at 7:00PM are in Latin with the professional St. Benedict schola (choir) from Windsor singing Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony by composers like Palestrina. Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.

This church in the heart of Greektown and is worth a look inside. Beauty and splendor are the themes and you will enjoy the majesty of one of Detroit's early churches.
