This time, I booked a campsite for family fishing. Everything was lovely until the site manager came through. He actually said that we "looked like" we were going to "make plenty of noise." Next thing, he showed up at our site with his dogs who ran through our campsite, ate our fishing bait, and were in our camp kitchen before I could stop them. Several of us had to shout at him to get his dogs. There were only two but they seemed to be everywhere.
He took them and left. The dogs returned without him. After chasing them away twice, I called our contact to complain. The manager then showed up at the campsite AGAIN, livid that I had made a complaint. He was extremely disrespectful, took pictures of us in our PAJAMAS at the campsite.
He and his dogs are totally out of control. We are all dog lovers. But no dogs are allowed in the game park... He should not have let his dogs run around. He said they are "highly trained." And why did he keep cropping up at our site uninvited??
Toilet paper was not refilled all weekend, but the campsite is nice. It's quite a hike to the river, not "overlooking" it as stated on the website.

We spent 3 nights in Liphiva. A lovely well equipped cottage on the bank of a little river. It has a nice deck outside to sit on and watch the river and a braai below. A small shared pool with one other cottage, with a couple of sun loungers.
I preferred Mbuluzi to Hlane down the road. It has a much nicer, better managed feel. We didn't like the multitude of fences sectioning up Hlane.

One of Africa's best secrets! Stayed at Imfihlo lodge. Loved absolutely everything. Birding is top notch with Green and Pink Throated Twinspots, Thick billed Cuckoo and 185 other spp on a winter list. Walking, cycling, drives, beautiful views. All staff were as always very friendly and helpful. Lodge just stunning.
Perfect spot for a quiet getaway.
Can't wait to go back.

What a wonderful minimalistic camping experience. From friendly reception staff to a great camp site, beautiful views and game sightings, including a whopping rock python while out mountain biking
. We certainly enjoyed everything on offer, from mountain biking, hiking, game and bird watching as well as swimming in the Mbluluze river rapids while watching out for crocodiles.

Me and 3 other girls came here and stayed in imfihlo lodge for a few days whilst visiting Swaziland. It was incredible. The lodge was absolutely beautiful, I couldn't make one complaint about it. Brilliant size and very spacious. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The staff down at reception were brilliant and really helpful after we had some issues with the canopy on our car and they were more than happy to help us fix it. The views were amazing and it was lovely to see the animals in their natural habitat.
I would definitely come here again and would recommend it to anyone!

Absolutely brilliant. Freedom to self game drive at night and daytime but you are close enough to the action just being at the lodge. Hippos walked straight up the river, 15 metres from the lodge. Nyala often slept between the lodges and staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. Definitely going back.

A fantastic, low key game reserve in Swaziland
The staff were incredible helpful and helped us plan other aspects of our travels as well
A basic but very clean and wonderful campsite with our own boma, fire and even a table. (Very important when you have flown over camping gear from the UK so chair and table become a real luxury)
A lovely experience being able to walk and picnic amongst the game. It was just us and several giraffe for lunch!

I don’t really want to write this review because if I do so truthfully, it will only encourage lots of people to go to this small part of Paradise.
Secluded, almost isolated, in the bush, the three double ‘bedroom’ tents surround, at a respectful distance, the central air-conditioned kitchen and dining areas – one inside, one outside- and the open-air braai and splash pool. Each tent is furnished tastefully, with an en-suite bathroom/toilet and an outside shower for the more adventurous. There is ample hot water all day, every day. The kitchen is well-equipped with a large fridge/freezer, microwave, etc.
We spent hours sitting on the tent deck or in the outside dining area overlooking the dry Mlawula River watching the birds, nyala, duikers wandering through our camp, but the highlight was when a giraffe joined us for breakfast. OK, he didn’t join us at the table, but he had his very unhurried meal about 10 mts away from us as we watched in wonder.
As there is an absence of dangerous animals (apart from the website’s “crocodiles, leopard and hyena) we went long walk around the area, but especially to the two fords across the river – more places to sit, look, listen and enjoy.
The reserve is split by the road, with the accommodation on the south side and a superb waterhole on the north side. This blue oasis was decorated with pink water lilies and frequented by birds and buck.
We stayed two nights – two couples leaving one tent empty - but wished we could have stopped longer. However, we will next time, if only to renew our relationship with the two giraffes that came waved us “Goodbye” as we drove away and the very friendly and helpful camp staff.

I spent a couple of days here, which is a very lovely and comfortable place to stay with a very nice surroundings and nice gave view. However, bed bugs are deadly!

Dear Buanasoto
We are very happy to hear that you found Mbuluzi to be a lovely and comfortable place.
I suspect that you have ended up with some unexplained bites after your stay here.
It would be highly unusual to have been bitten by bed bugs here.
The bush here however, does have a fair amount of pepper ticks. They are unfortunate a reality when visiting a wildlife rich area.
Please feel free to contact us if you would like advice on how to deal with pepper ticks before your next visit to the bush somewhere.
Is there some other aspect of the game reserve that you found to be dangerous?
Regards,
The Mbuluzi Team.

We camped at Mbuluzi recently. The surrounding are pretty and the camp is clean. Sadly, though there is hardly any game. A few Giraffe grace the park but the 1700 hectares of beautiful bush has very little else. It should really be called a 'Nature Reserve'. Although it's pretty, if you want to spot game, this isn't your place.

Hi,
We are hoping to book for early 2021 but need to know what the roads are like as we will not have a 4X4 but just a normal saloon car. I read a review that the roads on the reserve are pretty bad and just need to know how bad.
Best regards
Written 26 February 2020
We went there in the wet season, but with a 4x4, although I don't recall ever engaging 4x4. Reasonable ground clearance will be more important.

Good morning, I would know what is the malaria risk in the Mbuluzi Game Reserve in November, please? Is necessary a malaria prevention?
Thank you!
Written 5 November 2018
We are within a historic malaria area. But it is extremely rare from this area.
Our staff and most visitors so not take any prophylaxis.
You are always advised to consult a travel doctor and take their advice.
