We like to visit venues close to home. Often we first visit when house guests are interested in the region: the 4-state region; Berkshire county and Monterey and the environs. So going on our own preempted the deferral; we wished to explore now. We set...More

Off the beaten track but well worth the visit. Amazed at knowledge of tour guides who are high school students. Learned a great deal and the grounds are beautiful.

We visited for the first time and found a hidden gem of a historic house and garden. The docent was really informative and had great antidotes about the family and historic trivia which really made a huge difference in the visit. A must see.

Having seen many local elite mansions and galleries this was a wonderful insight into the early years of local settlement, with a true glimpse of life for those a little lower down the social scale! Our guide, Jo, was knowledgable and welcoming. The collection itself...More
