When we went there, it was closed. It's only open certain hours- I guess when the trains are going to be there. We looked through the windows, not too much to see but it is historical. Our son in law uses the station to take the train into DC to work (before covid). There's a big parking lot which is nice.

When you have to pick someone up at a train station it is nice to be close to it. This place has tons of close parking.

A convenient location

You need to buy tickets at a machine, so you can't get the senior discount, and you need to wait outside. The parking lots are large and well used. The platform and area are clean and well lit.

Quaint but fully functional train station
Oct 2017 • Family
It looks like the quaint little train station from yester-year, but don't be fooled: this is a busy MARC train station Monday through Friday, mornings and late afternoons. THe surrounding parking lots quickly fill with commuters on their way to Union Station in DC or the train station in Baltimore.

The local community was very vocal when developers tried to suggest closing it down in favor of a station slightly further north in Howard County, as part of a proposed development.

You'll board the train from ground level, so wheelchair users should talk to the ticket agent about how they'll be accomodated.

Historic Ambience
Oct 2016 • Solo
If you are touring Washington DC and have time to spare ...take the MARC train to Baltimore (Harbor, Ft McHenry, B&O Station, Aquarium, Science Center, USN Constellation, etc.) and stop at the City of Laurel Train Station if RR stations interest you. You could set this station down in 1850 along the tracks of any railroad and it would be consistent with the community. Operationally, it is great but just in terms of appearence it is a little gem. Main Street Laurel would be worth a short walk for an hour or so as well.

Needs to be cleaned up
May 2017 • Business
Grounds are poorly maintained, and overgrown with weeds and shrubs that need trimming. Trash. Walkways and parking lots have pot holes, deteriorated!
It is truly an operational and historic train station. If you want to get to D.C. , the train makes the trip much easier.

Very Convenient for Out of Towners to visit DC!!!

Had family visiting from Ireland. Was able to drop them off in the morning and pick them up in evening. The station has limited service but good enough. You can buy tix. Sufficient parking spaces. Overall a good local suburban station for long-distance commuter train service.

Laurel Marc Station is the only commuter train in the city of Laurel, about 35 miles from DC and 25 miles from Baltimore. It runs 5 days weekly, only during rush hours 5AM-9AM, 3PM - 8PM, no weekend availability. Dependable most times. It gets u to work. its' clean. its quicker than the bus.

Charming Historic Train Station
Sep 2016 • Couples
Small and loaded with charm, this operating historic train station is worth a quick visit. I do not think of it as a MARC station. Amtrac also uses (or used) it.
