This bridge is a part of a riverside park. Is is about two blocks from downtown. We had early dinner reservations so we parked near the restaurant and walked about two blocks to the park and the bridge. The park and bridge are free. There are informational exhibits and an interesting sculpture along the riverside path. We spent about 45 minutes there.

This 1901 walking bridge goes over the Kennebec River, and connects the town of Waterville and Winslow (which at one time was a thriving mill town), The setting provides do many photographic opportunities, especially when the water is calm. The attached unedited photos were taken with my iPhone 12. Because the water reflected like a mirror, the reflections of the bridge and buildings were remarkable

This is a cool historic little footbridge! Great views of the river (of course), the nearby train trestle, the park, and some Winslow industrial buildings. Walking on the grates didn't bother me like they bother some other people, although I once had a Springer spaniel who had a phobia about grates and refused to walk on them. The bridge does actually sway a little, enough to give me a tinge of motion sickness, so I didn't go all the way across to Winslow AZ -- I mean Maine!

The park on the Waterville side is very nice with signs and sculptures. It needs some shade.
The bridge itself is fun to walk over.
And on the Winslow side you can walk up the hill to a gazebo.

Not only is this a great history lesson for Waterville, the park is beautiful and very well kept. The bridge is special for me because my mother used to cross it daily to go to work at the old telephone office back in the late 40’s early 50’s.

Lovely, but made of metal grating so I couldn’t walk on it......this is an historic suspension footbridge, linking the city of Waterville and the town of Winslow across the Kennebec River. It gets its name from the toll that was charged to cross it.... 2 cents! See the locks?? Pretty cool way for couples to proclaim their love, by locking it on a bridge. The bridge actually sways!! Thanks to Husband for the photos actually *on* the bridge. I tried, but those grates..... nope.

This is a bridge over the river between Waterville and Winslow. Has an interesting history as a key bridge to connect the two towns. It looks very pretty, and has nice views of the river, and also looks nice if you are at one end and staring down the other. It is pleasant for taking a stroll, though I would not go out of your way to visit it. There doesn't seem like much on the Winslow side.

It is a nice walk out over the Kennebec River.
It is a historic pedestrian toll bridge.
Children were playing along the river bank next to the bridge.
It is right next to the very nice new River Walk park.

Pedestrian bridge across the Penobscot. Makes a nice short hike and there are some good river views. Nice new park with informative markers along the path. Bridge originally built to accommodate Waterville workers for access to the paper company over in Winslow, predecessor to Scott paper Co apparently. Worth the visit.
