Granddaughters wedding
Jul 2019 • Family
My granddaughter had her wedding performed here at the amphitheater, the weather was perfect and the ceremony, well, suffice to say it brought tears to the eye of the 70+ year old Paw-Paw

Beautiful!
Sep 2018 • Couples
My husband and I stopped here while we were waiting for our swamp tour to start and so glad we did! Didn't know if it would be much but it was so neat! Saw some very beautiful live oaks and got to walk right up to the swamp.

TOO HOT Go here if you like full sun, no shade
Jul 2017 • Family
They really really need to add some shade to that playground structure. Visited in the middle of summer, and the plastic was hot to the touch, and kids and parents were all miserable in the sweltering sun. Administrators, go look at the park in Abita on Koop Drive. They have shade over the playground structures, and shady benches and picnic tables close enough to the play area for adults to wait in shade (instead of full sun) and still be able to see their kids. We left after just a few minutes because this place was not built with Louisiana in mind.

Peaceful retreat
Aug 2017 • Family
The day I went with my daughter and granddaughter, we were just going to check it out. We had never been there. It was beautiful and peaceful. Not too many people there that day and we laid down a blanket and listened to the birds sing. Wonderful!

Great Place to Take a Short Walk
Sep 2017 • Couples
There's a couple of nice trails along Bayou Liberty and a longer one that winds its way through the woods. The ones by the bayou are better, but shorter. Sprinkled along the trails are the remains of the Salmen Lodge, an old water tower, a small grotto with a statue of the Virgin Mary... which make for interesting photos. Also a nice playground for the kiddos...

beautiful

Nice but short boardwalk and lots of other trails. There's a really nice field with a picnic table under a huge oak tree.

Beautiful environment!
Aug 2016 • Solo
I really enjoyed this area, when visited. It was very serene, and yet clean. Nature's blessings indeed! Had a wonderful walk, peaceful meditation and a front row seat to the "bird choir!" Lovely day, it was!

A Cozy & Clean Nature Park...
May 2017 • Couples
Camp Salmen Nature Park is a decent sized family friendly place. It features wooden boardwalk trails, as well as "natural" dirt trails for explorers. Picnic tables are scattered about the site in strategic places and a large pavilion offers restrooms, covered seating and an escape from inclement weather. A nice, large gym set adjacent to the pavilion offers a place for the young children to burn off some of their never ending supply of energy. Small bayous and creeks meander about the park providing access to birds, fauna, and area specific plants & trees. A great place for a quick picnic or lazy afternoon enjoying nature...
