Very interesting spot to learn about the area past and development of the local culture. Many displays of historic photos, tools, life styles. Video is worth watching but wasn't impressed with the approach or "land theme" in it. Better if they would just stick with...More

A very informative exhibit and an outstanding film by the National Park Service on the history of the forced expulsion of the Acadians from Nova Scotia and the arrival of a remnant in Louisiana. The film is every hour on the hour.

The visitor center itself had some interesting information but it has the worst video imaginable. No real information on who the Arcadians actually are, just a very very slow paced story about how they were an oppressed and displaced people by both the British and...More

It was kind of strange to find a national park service site in a city park, but it makes sense when you realize it is one of the far flung units of the Jean Lafite National Historic Park. It is a good place to get...More

This is part of the National Park system and is basically a museum. The movie and displays were helpful to see before we toured Vermilionville next door.

This should be your first stop, before going to Vermillionville or one of the other living history sites. It provides the broader perspective needed to understand how the Cajuns arrived in Louisiana and how they made a living once they did. The orientation film is...More

First of all it tells you the story of the Acadian people. Second this place is part of very big national park. Last the people who work here are very nice.

The culture of Acaians is fascinating and the center does a great job of displaying what it was like.

I have learned a lot about the Acadian history thanks to this museum. It is free but well done. The staff is friendly. The video presents is a quick summary of the history of the Acadian people; which I find very sad.

Very informative and attractively displayed photos and artifacts. Large displays that detail all aspects of Acadian life. The film is a must see which clearly and dramatically tells the story of the Arcadian diaspora.
