Walking through these gardens is like walking through a series of 17th century landscape paintings. Buttercup fields, woodland walks, lawns and statuary create a series of vistas, all set in peaceful Cotswold countryside. There are plenty of seats around, but the best part is that...More

Spent a very pleasant few hours at 17th-18th century Rousham Gardens. Many of the original features including ponds, cascades and follies still exist. Lovely views of the River Cherwell .The very attractive walled gardens are located behind the house, with a large dove cot within...More

We visited on a very rainy Saturday and were the only people there - which we quite liked. Rousham is hard core - no kids, no dogs, no pushchairs, no tearoom, purchase your ticket (£6 Per person, great value) from a machine and find your...More

The gardens have a wonderfully elegant but relaxed feel (early William Kent which seems to have been changed very little) in a beautiful setting by the river. Charmingly informal and understated (you just turn up, place some money in a machine for a ticket and...More

Take a picnic and sit by the river in the sunshine before exploring the woodland and kitchen gardens. Doesn't get crowded and makes a nice afternoon's walking. Very interesting history. £6 per person to enter.

Had the pleasure of visiting the lovely village of Rousham on a sunny august day, Only wondered around the gardens, which are very well kept and very colourful. The house is also very stunning. Well worth a visit, look at the church as well.

You will experience a nice combination of gardens on this estate, including well done landscape that is much more intimate than Stowe, walled vegetable, herbaceous border, and a sweet little garden with a 1600's dovecote at its center. HINT for those in oxford and no...More
