This is a wonderful place to take you grandchildren/children. The old school house and church is wonderful. They also have several events that are great family events

The Tonganoxie Community Historical Society offers information about the local area and its history. Tonganoxie is an cute little village in the area between Lawrence and Kansas City.

I have been to the historical society on many occasions. They do offer up rental of some of their facilities. Everything they have on site is from the area and is "hands on" Neat old buildings.

For a small town, the historical site is surprisingly good. There is a museum packed with interesting artifacts about the town named for a Delaware Indian Chief. The site also includes a one room rural schoolhouse and a church. Limited hours so check their website.

The local community has worked hard to save their history. This is a farming community. They have carefully gathered items from local families to display. It is professionally done. Connected to the museum is a wonderfully maintained dairy barn and outside is a restored school...More
