I highly recommend that every music fan visit here at least once! This was my first time at this "bucket-list venue", but I will be back. The stage is in a barn, on a farm, in the middle of nowhere. But WORTH the drive! It's close to Dubuque, I think, with a few dirt roads and a detour, but we made it with plenty of time to spare with our 5 hour drive from Minneapolis. You park in a field, where there is camping available also. It was a nice walk up and down some hills to the barn, but there is also a shuttle bus. The staff are mostly volunteers, I am told, but are friendly, helpful and very down to earth. The place is dreamy and magical. On this gorgeous October evening, they had campfires going. A secondary barn and the lower level of the big barn are filled with artists, selling paintings and jewelry and clothing. Two bars were well stocked with a good variety of beers and wines. A food truck was open the entire evening that was delicious. Merch booth was inside the barn where the stage is, and sold Codfish Hollow merch also! There is no barrier in front of the stage, so you can stand right in front of the band. There are a few hay bales along the sides if you feel the need to sit. Sound and lighting were top-notch and again, I can't praise the staff enough. Be sure to look up at the ceiling in the barn as someone does a wood carving for each band and many are hung up there.

Went here recently for a concert and had an amazing time. Venue in a barn with the most awesome sound system possible. Definitely worth going out of the way to come here. Parking in a field with 1/2 mile walk or so to get to venue. Even in a bad rain we got a little muddy but still had a great time.

This is a beautiful venue and the music is awesome. You might need to take some vacation or be retired because it is usually in the middle of the week to get these groups at great prices. It is lovely and very organized.

We have seen two shows here and they both have been phenomenal. Such a one of a kind, unique venue from the field camping to tailgating to the tractor ride to the barn and finally the barn itself. You can lounge on the grass outside of the barn and take in an Iowa evening. Would highly recommend!

This is a one of a kind venue and if you're a music lover, you need to go and experience it. We went for the first time for GARP 2018 - Nathaniel Rateliff was the headliner, but all the bands were amazing - from talking to others at the festival - many who attend regularly, they say all the acts are great all the time. The barn has amazing sound. And even with 700 people, it's an intimate experience. Beats the heck out of stadium/arena events - this is the way musical performers were meant to be seen and heard. You park in a cow pasture off a gravel road - people are parking, camping and tailgating in the same space - there's no one directing traffic, so it's pretty random - but plenty of space. You can walk down the hill to the entrance and barn, or catch the hayride down to the bottom. The man who runs the hayride does it for free - but takes donations/tips. And he runs back and forth all night to take exhausted, happy concert goers back to their cars and tents. There are food trucks and vendors on site. And beer - lots of beer. Go - see it for yourself and have a great time!

Been going here for 3 years now. In my opinion the best place to see a show in the Midwest or at least Iowa. Good people everywhere...from volunteers and artists showing their souls to food vendors and that guy passed out on the hillside. It has a feel you wish you could find everywhere. Just people being themselves listening to amazing music and laughing and smiling and stumbling around. One of the best parts of the 'Hollow' is camping in the 'pasture'...the pre and post show shenanigans will give you a glimpse of freedom gone past. Be good, be smart and always be true to yourself!!

We attend a lot of concerts and have visited many venues including Red Rocks, but Codfish Hollow Barnstormers is unlike any other. From parking in a cow pasture to a wagon ride to the barn where the concert is held, the place is unique and magical. It’s difficult to put into words. We will definitely be making the three hour trip many more times.

If you like concerts, add this place to your bucket list.

This place is amazing! By far the best music venue I have ever visited. Small outdoor round wooden barn with a stage set at far end. The acoustics and lighting were great. Very small setting with a camp ground. We stayed in Maquoketa at the Decker hotel and received a discounted rate by showing our show tickets. We saw John Moreland perform. Will definitely be back to see more shows.

Incredible season opening show. Great must see venue. Great music, great food and beverage options at reasonable pricing. Upcoming shows all season. Many of them sell out fast so take note.
