I would've passed by this memorial on any ordinary day which is unfortunate. This, like many interesting landmarks in Iowa has been downplayed when it shouldn't be. It is a very nice memorial that more people should be made aware of.
It is very impressive and a wonderful tribute to all Iowa firefighters. I loved the statue of the firefighter climbing up the ladder carrying a little child. The monument is handicap accessible. I would recommend everyone to visit the memorial and visitor center.
