A lovely morning ride with our guide Storm.very competent and attentive. Lovely horses that were fun to ride in very windy weather. My Husband who did not ride was looked after and transported to the wine tasting by Sam who was full of information. The wine tasting was a great experience in beautiful surroundings and gardens. We will be back.

I was hoping more people would be on the morning ride, but Rusty was a good match as a guide for me. We chatted away and had a good wine-tasting together.

He had patience with me considering after a bit of excitement and I had to suddenly find a spot behind the vineyards.😊 Was quite funny🤓🫣

Thank you for being a good guide and knowing your stuff!

We had a lovely 3 night stay on the farm with 2 full days riding. The horses are looked after very well and in peak fitness. We were matched well with horses for our abilities and had some great canters amongst the vineyards. Louis was a great host and special thanks to Peta and Kate our other guides.

Morning ride was a great experience through the vineyards and fruit farms.
Attentive staff and great horses. Can’t wait to come back when we can do a wine tasting ride.

Lovely scenery and view on my 2 hour tour, but black local staff didn't seem too content at the stables.

The tours are nice, and the scenery on the tours that last 2hrs or more is very beautiful.
BUT the guide named Kate, was very rude, and racist towards the black men who work on the farm. We felt very uncomfortable with the way she spoke to them and to the volunteers working on the farm (if they dont get paid the least you can do is show some respect). We dont want to support that kind of behavior.
We also noticed that, eventhough it is around 35-40 degrees, the horses dont have shelter from the sun in their paddocks.

I had the best week at CWR. As the only guest I was made most welcome by Louis, Ellen & Kate. I visit many riding places every year but only return to a few, and CWR is definitely on that list.
The horses live out in small groups and are very well cared for; the riding was just how I like it (fun and fast) on the amazing Olympia & Dixie; the routes took in different terrain & scenery each day & the guides could tell me about the flora and fauna we encountered; and it was perfect to visit different wineries for a tasting & lunch while the horses rested in a paddock nearby. And the dinners in local restaurants each evening, hosted by one of the staff, were excellent too.

I had the best time on this ride! The booking process was simple, asking for my experience riding. The company also arranged an excellent pick-up driver. The horses all looked great in their paddocks, and my horse was well-suited to my declared experience level (which was verbally checked before the ride as well). I was able to trot and canter on the ride, and my horse, Chenook, was lovely, forward and responsive. I'd love to do a full or multi-day with them!

I booked this last minute vacation thanks to the great recommendation of Far and Ride (Holly and Cathy) to start the new year. I was travelling alone and I had not ridden in years. I spent 4 nights but I could easily stayed another 2 or 3. The location is ideal as it is less than an hour from Cape Town airport.

First of all, there are horses for any level, the farm is well kept and the animals are all extremely well taken care of. I stayed in one of the 3 rooms on the farm, though you can stay at local inn or hotel if you prefer. the rooms are very clean and user friendly. You wake up with the rooster and you have breakfast on your little terrace looking horse pasture.

The rides are fantastic: we mainly left in the morning to go to a wine farm for an almost 3 hour picturesque ride, then we stopped for lunch and some wine tasting while the horses were enjoying a break, and back in the saddle again to ride back a shorter way,

One day, to change it up, we did the Grotto Beach excursion , 15 km of unspoiled beach for fast gallop action. wow !

Our guide and co owner/manager Ellen was with us every day and she so knowledgeable about the area, you also get a cultural visit as you feast on the scenery.

The area is obviously full of different vineyards but you also ride through different types of orchards with pear, prunes, lemons, etc..

It is one of the most relaxing and beautiful place I have been.

Advice if you go in the summer (in my case, January) temperature can rise up to 36 celsius: take sunscreen with you, a bandana to protect your neck and long sleeve shirts versus short sleeves.
