This was the third Illinois state park we stayed in due to traveling. The park itself is nice and there are many good hiking trails. However, there is one bathroom to serve the whole campground. It is cleaned occasionally. Showers were dirty, bugs and spider...More

We had a wonderful time visiting this park. Very pretty and clean. Had a bit of trouble locating the trails we wanted to take but found the waterfall trail. Paths are clear and easy to see. Breathtaking views and even the waterfall site was gorgeous...More

Ferne Clyffe is beautiful - rocks, waterfalls, and cliffs filled with plants (especially ferns) that you can find no where else. It has a set of hikes from wheel-chair accessible to heavy-climbing into rarely visited spaces. Bring a water bottle and a decent map -...More

Beautiful place. Moderate hike. Not long. Stil need to wear appropriate shoes. Almost missed the sign 'cause we drove around the circle the wrong way.

Ferne Clyffe has great trails , but the signage is spotty. Some of the trailheads are back in the woods and the signs for them aren't visible from the road. The Happy Hollow Trail is great! Also, why isn't it spelled Fern Cliff?

We had a great time exploring the trail (even though it was raining when we went)! It was an unplanned stop on our road trip, but one of our overall favorite spots on the trip! Picnicking by the lake was great

this is a small state park but it has a camp ground, primitive campground, horse camping, several shelters, a small lake, playground equipment, many hiking trails along bluffs.

This review is for the campground at Ferne Clyffe State Park and not the park as a whole. We were traveling cross-country and stayed one night. The campground was much older than we expected. Pros: 1) Quiet 2) Good distance between sites 3) Playground for...More
