Actually, we truly admire how many of Chicago's major attractions don't charge admission, but seeing how much money one could leave behind on the Magnificent Mile, it turned out to be an excellent respite from all the shopping, eating, and bar-hopping! This is the most...More

The Water Tower at Michigan Ave. and Chicago Ave is not a destination. You just find yourself in Jane Byrne Park if you're walking the Magnificent Mile. It really doesn't have an interesting reason to be, except that it was the stand pipe for the...More

A lovely old attractive building that clearly and easily stands out among the high rise skyscrapers. I was staying at the nearby Westin and returning down Michigan Avenue on the bus, the Water Tower was very useful as a landmark for me. At the back...More

Nothing massive to rave about it’s just a really nice piece of architecture with history in a big beautiful city. Looked kind of small next to all the other newer shiny buildings.

One of the few buildings that survived the great Chicago fire, the Water Tower is on Michigan Avenue on a piece of land with benches surrounded by all the upscale shopping

This a real gem among the skyscrapers and a real remnant from times past as it survived the great 19th century Chicago fire. We passed it while walked along the Magnificent Mile which has all the upmarket shops.

The water tower is on the Magnificent Mile and is a beautiful, old stone building. It sits nestled amongst the skyscrapers.

A beautiful water tower on the Magnificent Mile - certainly stands out among all the modern skyscrapers. A nice little green space with benches around it to rest. You can go inside but we didn't have the time.

The Water Tower is one of the survivors of the Chicago fire. Looks like something you might find in a Harry Potter movie. Take a quick peek if you are in the area.

Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan
Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent
Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago
River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out
neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the
place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with
shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and
dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale.
