We have visited this fountain many times but we really like it at night when the lights are on. You can sit in one of the many benches and just relax and enjoy the light show for about 20 minutes. I only wish that they...More

Always seems like there is something going on in Grant Park when we are in Chicago, if nothing else, can walk along the river walk and look at beautiful Lake Michigan.

Lovely place for a walk. The fountain doesn't work during the winter but still you can get a picture of the size of it and the sculptures around.

What an enormous fountain this is, just an utter shame not available during the winter period. Each time we walked passed in November, it wasn't working. I would have loved to see it in its full glory. Lovely located in the park, peaceful but I...More

One of the most beautiful fountains in the world. It is enormous and absolutely gorgeous. Situated in Grant Park on Chicago's beautiful lakefront, the city scape could not be more spectacular. Don't miss the night time light show.

This is really cool. I could see the light show from my hotel window but it's also really neat close up and is better with sound. We also go stuck in a thunderstorm after it did it's thing but that was pretty fun, being from...More

It is a lovely fountain that is one of Chicago's treasures. It is a nice spot to see the skyline. It is near the lake and not too far from the Museum Campus

Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a
good starting point to sample the city's energy and
flavor. This central business district boasts
Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier
shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep
your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many
photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of

The fountain operates mid-April through mid-October from 8 am-11 pm, so it kind of depends on when, in October, you will be visiting.

If you travel in the warmer months, it's a must do on the list though not sure if it will be open in cooler climate as I visited in early Sept!
