The Robie House on the University of Chicago campus is considered one of the most important buildings in the history of American architecture. It was created by Frank Lloyd Wright for his client Frederick C. Robie, a forward-thinking businessman. Designed in Wright's Oak Park studio in 1908 and completed in 1910, the building is both a masterpiece of the Prairie style and renowned as a forerunner of modernism in architecture. Tours of the site offer both a first-hand experience of its amazingly contemporary spaces and the current restoration work that is returning the house to its original appearance. Public tours are available Thursday - Monday. The museum is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Social events and family programs are hosted on weekends throughout the year. Robie House is also available for facility rentals and special events. Visit the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust website to learn more.

One of Frank Lloyd Wright's most famous buildings. Robie House is the most significant example of "Prairie Architecture". When you consider that Robie House is over 100 years old, you quickly realize the genius of Frank Lloyd Wright. This 100 year old house is still...More

This historic Frank Lloyd Wright home on the University of Chicago campus is well worth a visit. Come on a weekend when the university is not in session for the best chance to park nearby. Both the site and the interior are worth the time,...More

This Frank Lloyd Wright house is very nice and well worth a visit, even though there are parts that one can only look at because the house is currently under renovation. Our guide was pretty scattered, and I'm sure that there are others who are...More

Unfortunately the interior of the house was being renovated. But the exterior is stunning. A building that I have wanted to see for many years. Amazed at the setting, although a corner plot the other two sides really crowd the building, but I could ignore...More

This is an amazing house, and an prime example of Frank Lloyd Wright's prairie style. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. I would rate this higher except for two things: 1. Because of the tight scheduling, I felt rushed as we went through the...More

We didn't do a formal tour but just caught the metro train to Oak Park station where a map guided us to the various Frank Lloyd Wright homes and his outstanding Unitarian (?) Church. We followed a map that was on the wall of the...More

This home is stunning, and the tour (although not long) will give you a lot of information - whether you know the person and his designs or not. The tour guides were great and VERY knowledgeable, and the home and its grounds are wonderfully preserved....More

I love Frank Lloyd Wright and happily walked from the Museum of Science and Industry to the Robie House even though the inside is being renovated. We did take the tour. Several rooms - living room and billiard room- are partitioned off with plexiglass. Workers...More

There was a lot of interesting information given by our docent about the life, style and philosophy of Frank Lloyd Wright. Seeing his early home and studio gave me insight into his changing body of work.
