I was in town for business and always make the time to wander through even if only for an hour during every visit to the city. The museum is in a great location as well.

These treasures are exquisite. Unfortunately there is far too little light to see all the details. This is a real pity and the museum should do something about this.

There isn't enough praise for the Art Institute of Chicago. Give yourself plenty of time to wander and absorb the world-class collections. Besides the incredible Impressionists wing, be sure to check out the reconstruction of the Chicago Exchange Trading Floor. Beautiful.

It had been some time since we had visited The Art Institute of Chicago. We began with a pleasant lunch in the Museum Cafe which offers cafeteria style meals and offered a nice selection. We chose to wander the museum and made a point to visit the current exhibit, Saints and Heroes: Art of Medieval and Renaissance Europe. As interesting... More

My wife and I had never visited the Art Institute before, but a Chicago friend told us it was a "must-see." She was so right! The impressionist collection -- easily one of the best and largest I've ever seen, even in Europe -- is worth the trip. The museum is beautifully laid out, easily navigated, and could consume an entire... More

We only visit Chicago infrequently, but always visit the Art Institute. We did not realize our last visit pre-dated the opening of the excellent new wing of contemporary works. We spent more than two hrs there and enthralled by the new experience which was topped of by an hr with the Impressionists and American painters in an older section. Also... More

The art collection here is wonderful. We loved the Saints and Heros collection. We also enjoyed viewing the Renaissance period art. A must see when you visit Chicago

Did not see everything in the eight hours we spent at the museum. We did see Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Sarot, Remington, and so many more great works of art. The furniture collection is fantastic as well as the sculptures. Overall a win for a rainy Saturday morning.

Rivals any other world-class art museum - a must if you're visiting Chicago. Way too much to take in in a single day.
