Obviously art is subjective. 100%. So, I would say there is something here for everyone and something here you just will not get. Half the fun is seeing these paintings though. The ones that really make you talk and say things like "why is this...More

This place was beautiful inside & out! There is so much to see. We originally decided to go because it was on our Go Chicago card & rated #1 place to visit by Trip Advisor. We are so happy we did!

I love the Art Institute! My husband is from Chicago and I told him 30 years ago on our first visit that we always have to go to the Art Institute when we visit Chicago! It's a world-class museum that has the largest collection of...More

The range of choices, the masterful artists, the overall exhibits - truly amazing. The line was long with 7 or 8 stations but only two clerks working. The guards were friendly but some did not seem to have much information about the art. The folks...More

We visited art institute on a Thursday afternoon. Not very crowded. Was a great experience. A fast tour thru can take a couple hours. A more in-depth visit would take a half day.

I was told that The Art Institute has the largest collection of impressionist paintings after the Musee d'Orsay in Paris. We spent four hours there and only managed about to see half of what's there. There is a good collection of American art - some...More

Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a
good starting point to sample the city's energy and

Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier
shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep
your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many
photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of

I would also suggest you get the headset where you punch in a number and your hear a fuller explanation about the art work. It cost $7. Highly recommended.

Yes! And you can purchase it on line and print it out at home. I don't think it is very much more expensive than general admission either. Go for it !
