Where to begin. I used Metra to get to work for the past 5 years and I can tell you, they are not reliable. Their train cars are from decades past and constantly break down. When the weather is extremely cold, they encounter switch problems,...More

While visiting Chicago, we took The Metra to meet friends in Downers Grove. The train came timely and was very clean and comfortable. The conductors were friendly. We noticed that lots of routes are offered. Next time, we plan to take The Metra to visit...More

We already had ventra day passes but Google maps told us to use the metra to get to the science museum. As first time users we went to the information desk to ask for help and the lady was plain mean. My son ended up...More

Riding Metra is a great way to get around and not deal with traffic. I like the train and would take it every day if it went beside major roads east/west and not just downtown. The evening schedule can be a bit wonky, but still...More

My husband and I don't mind taking public transportation when we are in large cities, like New York and Chicago. It's honestly the cheapest and easiest way around the city! The Metra rails are the best way to get to the ballpark (both Wrigley and...More

My 14 year old son and I were visiting Chicago. We stayed in the suburbs, and to avoid driving downtown, we took the Metra. The person selling the tickets wasn't terribly helpful, and many of the people on the train were rude, even during non-business...More

Get a CTA ticket and ride the EL. Metra trains bring people in from the burbs and beyond. Hop on bus is good and the trolley last I checked was free
