This museum provides a great overview of the area's history. It also provides a great overview of the folks' various hobbies and interests. If you love folk-curated museums, you will love this place. If you are looking for a professional museum experience, you might be disappointed. I loved it!

I am from Northern Idaho. I LOVE our history. My ancestors came up here in the late 1800's. I think this museum displays a lot of our history without the sugar coating that most recreational driven income business like to "hide!"

Perfect destination and well worth the visit. I could spend hours viewing the museum of the culture and work habits. Great variety of collections and donations. Great food and drinks. Thank you Peggy and Ken for all you do to keep this available to the public. It is very educational. Will always make a stop at the Spragpole!!

This is a community museum. It's a gathering place for collections and treasures from local citizens. Learn about Molly B Damn, a local prostitute celebrated in this area for her colorful life and compassionate help during a TB outbreak. There is a modern mining display with some very artistic exhibits. This is a one of a kind museum worth the time to explore.

Came to Murray, Idaho with friends camping near the area.

After dining (ahem) at Spragpole Bar, we walked thru a little door and poof! we were in the museum. It's free (give a donation, they worked hard putting it together)

If you live in Idaho, you'll see interesting pictures and pieces of history you will recognize. The big burn, farm and blacksmithing tools, books, coins, pinball machines, school room, hooker room, rocks and minerals, collector booze bottles and cigarettes and snuff. Something for everyone.
A single exhibit caught my attention. A sawed larch tree with time line numbers on the tree rings dating 750 years til it was cut in 2000. Amazing.

There's also a bar/restaurant but we only toured the museum, which is self-guided and free. You enter it through the bar and they allow drinks so we bought a couple of beers and headed into the museum. It's quite the collection of old memorabilia, some junk, some treasure and includes the world's largest wood chain. The guy apparently had a lot of time on his hands! Scenic drive to a quirky place.

We stopped at the SpragPole on our way over Thompson Pass as we had heard several recommendations in Mullan and Wallace, Idaho. We found it to be the largest collection of miscellaneous "historic" stuff we had ever seen: like a typical small town "museum" display of a few old dresses, magazines, keys, bottles, etc., of modest local connection, only a million times bigger. Toward the back of the connected rooms are some newer displays, nicely done, that interpret a little of the local history. Otherwise, just shelf after shelf after shelf after shelf (etc.) of old stuff. Worth a peak if you are passing through.

When we arrived at the Sprag Pole, there was a guy standing in front of the place like he was checking to see if the place was open and I called out to him "Is it open?" He turned around and we spoke for a few minutes and I found out he was the manager. He very graciously opened early for us, showed us the museum, and cooked a wonderful breakfast for us as we toured the museum. Awesome museum. Rob and Sandy, managers of the Inn, were fantastic. If you are ever in the neighborhood of Murray ID, be sure to stop at the Sprag Pole Inn and museum.
