We took a youth group up to snowshoe and tube. The youth loved it! The trail is great for beginners and all ages. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful! We hope to come back again!

My wife and I were in town for our 30th Anniv. We were looking for somthing to take up a few hours of the day. We found this place and drove out to check it out and ask some questions prior to making our decision. Peggy met us at the ticket booth and had my wife sized up with snow shoes before we could make up our minds. We were sold and came back the next day for a hike. For a snowshoe hike of about 1 5/8 of a mile, that was plenty. Warming shed about 1/3 of the way for a break, up a hill for a view to die for and a trek back to the house. Peggy was just the best to work with and I highly recommend this place for a little "something to do".

What a great spot to snowshoe and sled. They had equipment to rent that was very reasonably priced and the fees to enter were also great. It was so much fun for all of us! Will definitely be back to visit here again soon.

We were greeted warmly at the ranch house. We strapped on our snowshoes and went about half a mile through a pretty field with nice rolling hills around the trail. We stopped at the warming hut and grabbed some sleds and enjoyed the sledding hill a million times. When everyone was worn out, we snowshoed back out. There is a separate trail for skiers and a longer snowshoeing trail, but we were worn out from sledding interval-training. 🛷 We just showed up at the ranch, but you can call ahead and make an appointment and they'll deliver home made chili and cornbread to the warming hut for you. Yummmm.

Rex and Penny Ann are the owners/operators of Baker Ranch. You couldn't ask for nicer, more accommodating people. My wife has some unique food requirements, and Peggy Ann bent over backwards to work with her and find something that met my wife's needs. Rex is such a likable guy, talkative, engaging and genuine. The wagon ride to the dinner location was comfortable and relaxing. Dinner was very good, in a beautiful setting with a creek running by. Thoroughly enjoyed everything about the evening!

We enjoyed a delightful evening with Rex and his family. Boarding a wagon pulled by a team of horses, we headed out on a 2-mile ride to a lovely setting in the wooded mountains. En route, we enjoyed beautiful pastoral scenery and mountain views.
On arrival, we relaxed in a lovely setting along a bubbling creek, then, at the sound of the dinner bell, went through the "chow line" to get our meals. Good thing we arrived hungry, because there was a lot of food . . . . and it was good.
The evening entertainment was provided by a talented local man who sang and played guitar. After dinner, we were welcome to walk around the "wandering area" or sit by the campfire for a bit. The ride back was just as pleasant, with beautiful sunset colors in the sky.

Our family ages 6-68 absolutely LOVED this experience. The ride up the mountain was comfortable, the view was beautiful and the horses were so neat. Rex Baker was our driver and he was sooo nice and made our trip even better. His wonderful wife, Peggy and her team cooked an absolutely amazing meal that we enjoyed while listening to a great singer/guitar player. There was a campfire a creek and a play area for the kids. We will be going on this adventure again!

Our Baker Ranch experience was grand. A gentle ride through the mountains to a quiet spot by a stream with a play ground for our grandchildren 13 to 1 1/2. Food decent, hot dogs or brisket, salad, good rolls. The drink selection could have been more expansive - water and a sugar lemonade. Pretty standard fair. The singer played familiar, sing along tunes. Hospitable folks, Fun to talk with Rex, the owner, he'll be doing this until he's 90 I'm sure. It isn't an inexpensive evening. If you're in Lava for a couple of days, it's a good evening out since there isn't much else to do but sit in the hot springs.

We took 5 kids total and they loved it. They all got to take turns sitting up front with the horses. The experience was alot of fun. Music and dinner were both good. We would definitely go again. Thank to the Baker's for a great night of food and fun for our family.

Good afternoon. We are a group of 6 people who would LOVE to visit your place, however we are vegetarian. Is there any way you could arrange for us to have a dinner with fish or pasta with vegetables? Also, can we ride horses up there? Thank you in advance for your consideration.

There are not individual horse rides available, all guests are seated on comfortable wagons for the evening dinner trip. We have vegetarians book every summer and the menu for them is as follows: Idaho Baked Potato, corn, ranch beans (no animal fat or meat is used in our beans), large salad medley, salsa and oil based dressing available, homemade multigrain dinner rolls, raspberry lemonade, coffee/tea, and of course dessert either moist chocolate brownies or lemon cake topped with our homegrown raspberries.

Does the wagon ride and dinner event operate on a Sunday, too? The website implied that it happens when they can fill a wagon...does that mean it will only happen if they have certain reservation numbers?

Yes. they usually have to have a full wagon. However, you can call them to make arrangements. They are very accommodating.
