About
Castletown Golf Links is a unique championship golf course situated on the Langness Peninsula in the Isle of Man, surrounded by the sea on all three sides. The Isle of Man occupies just about the same area as Greater London - no more than 33 miles long and less than half that distance at its widest point. At Castletown golf is mostly played well above sea level, with views at every hole of tumbling cliffs, rocky outcrops, sweeping bays and, of course, the ever present sea. Yet the playing conditions are pure links golf - tight-knit, quick draining turf and smooth, fast running greens, with gorse, whispy fescues, and heather defining fairways. The original Castletown Club was formed in 1892 and holes were laid out on the present site in the early 1900's by Old Tom Morris, widely regarded as the modern pioneer of golf. Just a few years before he had confirmed to a potential client: "My fee for laying out a green is One Pound Sterling and travelling expenses", so the exercise was not too costly! Following the Second World War, the course was re-designed and restored by the very well-respected architect, Mackenzie Ross, and it is that course which is in play today. With water on all sides and two magnificent bays carving swathes along each flank, it is a dramatic and wonderfully natural site for a golf course.

The Baytree restaurant at the golf course is well worth a visit! Unusual home cooked food with large portions and a varied menu
Staff pleasant and atmosphere relaxing
Mainly main meals. Recommend the fish cakes and chicken salad

Friend suggested here for Casual lunch, none of us play golf btw. Nor am I interested in golf. Location is fantastic especially on a clear day, plenty parking, Staff pleasant and friendly which is nice. Plenty of room and comfortable tables. We are fiddly to feed, I don’t eat meat or fish, others had gluten issues etc, but everyone got something, I had very nice ploughman’s, heaps of different types of cheese. Only complaint, thought the two small rolls wasn’t enough, I’d like a big hunk of crusty granary bread please. Others had delicious smoked salmon saLad which was gorgeous. Tasty chocolate brownie to follow which the girls thoroughly enjoyed. Overall very nice.

Visited in early April 2022 with a family group and had a fantastic time both on and off course. Many thanks to Andi and Caroline in the club house for looking after us so well including finding clubs and shoes for us when ours failed to make the flight! Fresh lobster caught just yards from the course made for a memorable lunch. Special mention also for the Shore at Gansey. This was Andi's recommendation and did not disappoint. They even put the Masters on in the bar for us!

I hadn't played the course for a number of years and it was fantastic to be back. All the things I liked about before remain including the 17th which would slot into any Open course. The New 18th is an improvement but just needs to settle in a bit more to feel like it belongs. One day something will happen to the old hotel but even if that takes a while this is still a fantastic links course and one to visit.

Castletown Golf Links is a beautiful place. The course is in fantastic condition with several truly memorable (and occasionally slightly daunting) holes. It has views of the sea from every hole and is a challenge to every level of golfer. Only a few minutes from the airport too - well worth a trip over and very reasonably priced for guests.

Recent golf trip to castletown, staying in two locations around the Port St.Mary area.16 golfers, playing 4 rounds. We are a returning Group, who love the course.19th hole is expertly run and operated by a family team, who couldn't do enough for us.We would have liked to have eaten in the evening at the Restaurant, however this wasn't an option with tee-times and operating times of the restaurant.food was excellent and service friendly, would strongly recommend.
our main contact golf wise appeared to have the weight of the world on his shoulders and the main focus appeared to be collecting green fees.We didn't feel loved.other pro shop staff a little more human.overall a good trip,we are back to Aberdovey next year.Clubhouse and pro shop always excellent, more smiles generally.

The golf course allows you to access an excellent walk along the cliffs to the lighthouse where we were staying. The walk runs parallel to the coast and it is more than likely you will be able to spot seals very close to the shore. The isle of Man is a beautiful place to visit and enjoy local seafood such as scallops and rock lobster. Can't wait to go back, magical.
