We visited the Stone Circle, Museum and Adam's Calendar, stayed at the Stone Circle guest house. It was Wonderful. Our hosts were friendly and considerate. The self catering guesthouse was clean, cozy, beautiful and contained absolutely everything we needed. You literally need only bring your own toothbrush+paste and clothing. You can make your own food if you want to cook but the food at their restaurant is very good indeed. Edwin is a masterful tour guide, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I can recommend this trip to anyone.

If you are in Mpumalanga this is really worth the effort. Kaapsche Hoop is a beautiful town and the wild horses make the experience even better.
Take a hike up to the stone circles for breathtaking views. We did not use a guide as this is an easy hike and you can take your time at the stones. We were accompanied by the horses the whole way.
The theories about the stones are wild (I'm not a believer in alien creation theories), but when you are there, the scenery is really magical and you can appreciate the historic value of the site.
Don't forget to grab a bite to eat at Kaapsche Hoop after your hike.

I would most definitely go to Adam's Calendar again. A few years ago, my daughter did her Masters degree in Architecture and she used this place as the site for her design. She did a lot of research on all the different theories on the stone circles, which were extremely interesting.
I'll gladly take visitors to the site and tell them some of the stories, as I don't live too far away.

If you are looking for a nice day walk/hike this is the perfect outing! This is a hike with an average of 10km with the most stunning views of the Barberton valley. Take water, snacks and enjoy nature in all its glory. Accessible from the main road, and save.

Adams calendar are ancient ruins right on our doorstep , but few take the time and respect to go visit . The tour by the local guide was amazing , seeing that level of architecture and knowledge in an ancient site just stirs so much inside of you with wonder and mystery about the past and past people of this land .

We took a drive with a guide who shared ideas about the mysteries of the stones. The scenery is awe inspiring and you can experience both peace and energy. It is fascinating and still unexplained. Really worth it !

I am intrigued by all the meanings of all the rock formations in this area, it definitely has a deeper meaning but as humans not really in touch with the real understanding behind it all.

Hi, does anyone have more information please ? How long is the hike? Is there a map? Thanks in advance

Hi there! I would guess it's about 7km's hike from Kaapsehoop to Adam's Calendar. I'm not sure if there are any maps available. The official route to the attraction was closed, as far as I know, but many people still walk the few kilometers to the site and back to town. It's an easy walk on the contours of the escarpment.
I suggest you contact the Bohemian Groove Café or any of the other restaurants or guest houses in town. They might have more recent information than I do.
There was an unofficial guide who showed us around and told us the stories about Adam's Calendar. Hopefully the locals might have more info and contact details for guides.

Do any of the standard S.Africa Tour companies include Adam's Calendar and surrounding area as part of their packaged tours?
