need to ride on it with a boat

The Mokolo dam needs to be driven on by a boat to fully appreciate the size of it. It is a nice place for relaxing and braaing.

I took a drive here on a Sunday to pass time. It has decent areas to picnic or camp. There is not much to do unless you have brought a boat with you. The gravel road to the dam is quite sandy in places and a little dangerous.

Really nice place to be. Bathrooms are far apart, but clean and well kept. We were only there for a day visit, no camping. Nice braai stands and clean. Its enjoyable all round if you love nature and being calm.

The last 20 km turn off road from the main road is a very corrugated and stony dirt road, and we lost one motor-tyre due to the bad state of the road. The ablution facilities is not good at all, and need some upgrade. The camping and Bass fishing itself was great!

This is a great place for those who are into outdoors, its within the Mokolo Nature Reserve. The place is great for camping, braai outing with friend/family or for the petrol heard - boat skiing! Beautiful view of the dam and surrounding landscape. Very secluded (15km) from main road, and two ways to access the dam, especially for those without... More

Huge reservoir, about 17 km across and 2 km at widest. Located inside the Waterberg biosphere, excellent fishing. Primitive camping facilities. Located at least 60 km from any shops and civilization, very remote if that is your kinda thing.

I spent days in Limpopo South Africa near Lephalale during the dry season of October. It was a suggestion of a local to visit Mokolo Dam. Our local contact took us here along with his small flats boat. After driving from the tar road to the sand road, with dust flying from the arid weather, we turned into the most... More
