About
Stretching from Nikki Beach to Indian Beach Park, the Miami Beach Boardwalk is well-maintained and lined with shops and hotels. Take a stroll along its length and rent a bike for the return journey. Remember to bring sun protection and watch out for speeding cyclists. Water fountains are available for a refreshing drink along the way. The beach is perfect for sandcastle-building and swimming, with lifeguards on duty. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the Art Deco district, enjoy the view from a rooftop cocktail bar, or catch an arthouse film at Miami Beach Cinematheque. – Tripadvisor

- TravellerNew York City, New York3,304 contributionsMy favorite place in Miami BeachI walked on the Miami Beach Boardwalk every day during my visit to Miami Beach (four days). It was my favorite place in Miami Beach. I experienced the Miami Beach Boardwalk in the morning, mid-day and late afternoon. Two of the days I walked from 46th Street to South Pointe Park which is 4.5 miles and then I walked back to 22nd Street. The boardwalk was very busy with walkers, runners, bicycle riders. There were many photo ops. It is a great place to go to during a visit to Miami Beach.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 January 2024
- GregskyOttawa, Canada951 contributionsNice, smooth path with some great viewsI walked along the boardwalk every day of the week that I stayed in South Beach. The path is nice and smooth, busy with lots of people walking, running, roller blading, and biking. The path is windy and goes from Ocean Drive, to the beach, and back, several times.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 March 2024

We flew from Europe for a week's vacation in Miami , because of the time difference I always woke up very early and ran along the promenade . Nice scenery, great path for running.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 September 2024

If you don't feel like walking on the beach itself, this is great alternative. It runs parallel to the beach, ending at South Pier, which has great views back over the city and an excellent cafe and play area. One of the only places to get refreshments this close to the beach.

Though you can't get on the boardwalk until around 24th street due to construction, once on it, you can stroll all the way down to 1st street. There are plenty of spots to go on to the beach and watch sunrise if you're up early enough, and later in the afternoon, there are lots of waterside restaurants with pretty outdoor seating (though they are set quite a ways back from the water, so view is limited). People were respectful about spacing and letting people through who were running, and in the areas with cyclists, those on bicycles were great about announcing their approach.

This thing goes on for quite a ways. Nice entrances to all of the different beach sections and easy access to a lot of the resorts. It is well taken care of and easy to navigate. We started in the Art Deco district (Cresent Hotel) and walked north till we got tired. Be advised, watch the blind corners. The are some people riding bikes and scooters really fast. We saw two pretty good collisions. Take care especially if your pushing a stroller.

This is a very well-kept boardwalk that runs alongside Miami Beach. Plenty of room for bikes and pedestrians, and it is swept and clean. There are public water fill stations and public places to wash your feet off, after a day at the beach, but the best part is that all of the intersections are incredibly well marked on the actual boardwalk floor. See photo. So if you are looking for 41st Street, for instance, you just can’t miss it.
This means if you are looking for a restaurant along Collins Avenue, and you have a bit of a stroll, you can just take the boardwalk without fear of missing your intersection.
Furthermore, as a single woman I felt very very safe.

Great boardwalk for walking, jogging, biking. Though bikes are not allowed on parts of the boardwalk. The sunrise is beautiful as you can see from the pictures. Very long stretch we easily walked for an hour without realizing that we had gone that far. Walked in the evening after dark as well and there were quite a number of people out there. I would think it’s safe after dark.

Lovely way to see the sights and get fresh sea air. Only downside are the loads of bike riders , some of whom go way too fast and are quite dangerous. Crowded at weekends. At the North End it is supposed to be bike free but they ride anyway. - cyclists never think rules apply to them, 😡

We were walking the boardwalk late afternoon concrete shaded and beautiful Was somewhat crowded when we walked so watch out for bicycles, skate board etc. Sone ppl move fast. You will pass the backside of major hotels with all kinds of themes and music. From south beach you can walk a long way put to a pier jetting into the ocean. I am guessing approximately 2 miles.

My wife and I spend a week in Miami Beach in November 2022. Each morning we went out walking on the Boardwalk (now Beachwalk?). We walked almost end to end over the time we were there. The walk is beautiful and well kept. Even in November the sun is very strong here even in the morning, so put on some sun screen and bring a hat for those areas that are not in the shade! The walk is paved the entire way. It meanders toward the South Beach end and is fairly straight from around 21st to the north. There is enough space on the walk to handle the crowd, at least when we were on it. The only thing (as mentioned by some other reviewers) is the BIKERS. They either cannot or do not read the "slow" signs aimed at them. We were essentially run down a few times, so keep an eye out for them. There are a couple of bathroom facilities along the way, but they are spread out. Overall a good experience and would go back every day like we did on this trip. I very much recommend it and commend Miami Beach for keeping in good shape.

It's great if your down by the beach, a nice place to take a stroll. What would make it better was if there was a guide to the many places to eat along the way that are perpendicular to the beach...use your phone map device. But again, many people work out by running or biking on the boardwalk, many take a stroll and there are some parks and the like to hydrate and use the facilities.

A perfect way to end the weirdest year out of the 51 I have lived so far. We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant at the 1 Hotel - Watr. We had an amazing evening and just wanted to share the experience. The traffic was a little thick, so give yourself extra time! Ask for an indoor table or bring a jacket or wrap as it an be cool if it is windy.

Hello Miami Runners!!!
I’ll be visiting Miami while training for a marathon. Staying near 57th street at Collins Ave. How safe is to run there? Best route? How early? Any advice? I live in the Caribbean, so I’m accustomed to the heat
Thanks in advance!
Laura

I’m a marathon runner. Recently ran the Miami half marathon. I have run the Miami Beach boardwalk many many tines in past 5 years. I personally like to go out early and before the sun rises. For one it’s much cooler but above all lot less people. The boardwalk tends to get busy as the day goes by. So I go out at 6am about 5/6 days a week when I’m down there.

We will be visiting Miami Beach in November. Any tips we want to be close to the beach and shops. Suggestions wouldn’t be awesome
Written 22 July 2018
Your best bet would be the hotels on Collins Avenue. Most of them have a back access to the beach and the boardwalk for a nice morning stroll. Also if you want to stay in a shopping area, you need to be close to Lincoln Rd. and the open air strip.
There are a few very nice hotels on Collins between 14th and 19th streets. You will have direct access to the beach and the shopping a few steps away. Enjoy it...

How can you tell which hotels are along the boardwalk?
Written 17 December 2017
Goggle South Beach Miami maps and check out the area of Collins Ave.
The hotel website should tell you if it's located beach front.

We are staying at the Airport Marriott Courtyard overnight before a cruise. I was wondering if anyone has taken a Uber from the airport area to South Beach? If so, how long is the trip and what is the approximate cost?
Thanks in advance
Written 2 November 2017
Taxi and Uber cost have already been discussed. What I absolutely recommand is to do it! How boring a night entirely spent at the airport, and how exiting to spend some time visiting South Beach, especially Lincoln Road, Espanola Way and Ocean Drive!
