We were in Miami Beach South for 4 days. I did not expect much froma "city-beach", but we were surprised. The beach is very long (go on for many many km) and is not overcrowded, not even in the most famous part .....there is possibility to rent beach beds and umbrellas in every part of it, the water was warm and nice. Considering we are in a city, was a great beach

Green park with not a whole lot to do.
The part is next to the beach so you get the beach activity going.
There are volleyball courts set up so it's cool to have that vibe.
The boardwalk passes through it so you get that "exercise traffic" vibe which is cool.
You'll end up visiting it because of Ocean Dr so it's ok, but the Park itself .... not a whole lot happening.

Love to walk here and do some people watching. Boutiques are a delight fill with odd staff that you wont find elsewhere.

We had a late flight out of the area after a cruise, so spent the morning on the beach with a couple chairs and an umbrella. Clean, white sand beach. Nice cool water with an easy surf. Great place to relax and get some sun.

Park itself has volleyball and an outside gym, so good for people watching. Various paths take you to the beach itself. Clean and tidy.

you can go for a walk or for a ride. There is plenty of room and some shade when the sun is too hot. It does have some homeless people sleeping around.

We visited Lummus Park on Thanksgiving after having lunch nearby. It was a very nice day so there were quite a few people on the beach and enjoying the park. It was clean and well maintained. We'd go back.

Lummus Park beach is a really great stretch of beach just off Ocean Drive. Flat sand and runs for miles. Good facilities to wash off sand.

The park itself is pleasant but not spectacular; it's really just a barrier strip between Ocean Drive and the sand, with a beach house. Great for a stroll, with the real attractions on either side of the park.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could recommend where I can find cabana rentals for the beach? I’m heading down in a few months and wanted to rent one for our group! Thanks in advance!

As soon as you walk on the beach you’re going to see people renting cabanas and chairs, but the cabanas are not like the hotels one unless you go to the hotel area. Would you can also do and just paid but you’re gonna be talking about $20 to40 or more

We are planning to be in South Beach 4th of July w/our 10 & 6 year old. Can you please tell me the best place on the beach to view the fireworks or if we would be able to view from one of the streetside cafes, if so which one? I would also like to know if the public restrooms will be open as well 4th of July evening. Thank you so much :)

Hi,
Sorry I don't know where they hold the fireworks. Maybe check with the local council about the restrooms as don't know the open hours I'm afraid.
Enjoy your visit.
Kind Regards
Karen

Where is the best parking area to Lummus Park?

HI,
sorry for delay
There is parking on the street. However, yes you do have to pay but it doesn't start until 9:00am and ends at 6:00pm (residential parking starts). That will probably run you around $35+. Be careful, some streets are enforced 24hours so make sure you read
There are a few garages on 17th Street. If you are there all day(6-24hours), it's only $25.00
Otherwise, if you can find a spot on the street (a few blocks past Washington Ave) the parking is free until 6:00pm but you'll have to walk few blocks (Washington is 3 blocks from the beach, not to bad.
The parking in the lots in the surrounding area will cost the same as if you parked on the
street where you'll pay pretty much the same $35.00+
Hope this helped. Good luck! Have fun
Where can I rent a beach Umbrella for a beautiful spot on Lummus Beach?

Right on the beach. Look for the small houses (on each block). Shop around, each house has different prices
Is Lummus Park a good place to go to for New Year's Eve? I know that yhere are fireworks but do they also have food and live entertainment?

Yes, Ocean Drive is cut off from traffic so the streets are filled with partygoers. Amazing way to bring in the New Year.

Not sure, but the Betsy Hotel (right on Ocean Drive) is very pet friendly...I am sure, their concierge can give you reliable information.

Sorry I'm late answering for this traveller, but sapansaxe...gave good advice. For future travellers to SoBe, the public parking garages usually have spots up until about 09:00. Not as cheap as the street but reasonably available. Go to the MB site for locations. The most central (albeit popular!) garage is at Collins and 13th. I used to live on that corner and saw frequent fights (mostly verbal!) over who was the next to enter as the attendant moved the FULL sign aside to let one more in. That gives you an idea of the demand for parking in SoBe after about 09:00. Weekends are the worst!
How much is parking? What are hours? Consider I have a fifteen passenger van.

You can use meters all over the area, there is a different set of rates, the closeness to the beach determines the rate, closes rate is $4 per hour, lateral parking $2. Municipal parking lots (13th and 7 st on Collins, a block away, $ 1 per hour, or fix rate for the whole day, depending on any festivity or holidays at the time of your visit).
